February 2019 - Updates

  • In This Issue:
    •  MIPS Payment Adjustments
    • Postage Increase and Electronic Patient Statements
    • Electronic Faxing Module

MIPS Payment Adjustments

  • Medicare Explanation of Benefits (EOB) will now include MIPS Payments Adjustments. These adjustments will appear in the Medicare EOB as CO-144 claim adjustments. However, these payment amounts are not yet included in the Payment Remittance Report accessed via the Remittance > View Payments tab in Practice Manager. Until these amounts are included in this report, we recommend that you use the Payment Edit report to balance these checks. For more information on this please see our post here.

Electronic Billing Program Updated

  • The electronic billing program, NEIC_P5, has been updated to correct two issues that results from the MIPS C0-144 Medicare incentive payments.  For more information on this please see the instructions outlined in our latest post.

Postage Increase and Electronic Patient Statements

  • The US Postal Service implemented new postage rates that went into effect on January 27, 2019. Please be advised that in addition to the postage increase, STI has increased the statement processing fee for the first time in the 14 years since we began offering this feature in Practice Manager.  The cost to process a one page statement will increase from $0.17 to $0.19, additional pages will increase from $0.12 to $0.15 and NCOA will increase from $0.30 to $0.35. We thank you for taking advantage of our electronic patient statements feature. We believe it is a more efficient use of your time than printing, stuffing and stamping envelopes. Also, in the future you will see some exciting new options such as the ability for patients to make payments online.

Electronic Faxing Module

  • STI now has an electronic faxing module that was built specifically for the needs of medical practices. We understand the need for providers and their staff to be able to quickly send faxes and edit, annotate, and import faxes into our EHR software. As a result, we now offer an intuitive user interface to integrate both inbound and outbound faxing into the ChartMaker Medical Suite Healthcare solution.  The cost includes a monthly fee which is based on the total faxes sent and received. Note, you can cancel the service with 30 days written notice. For more information, please see our enrollment page.

Updated Login Screen For ChartMaker® Medical Suite

  • Have you noticed the new splash screens and login window for ChartMaker® Medical Suite? In addition to other enhancements now available in version 6.3.5, the user login and splash screens have been updated. Also, in our next release (6.3.6), the desktop icons will also be updated. For more on this and other changes, see our release highlights.

Acquisition of Newtown Professional Billing

STI is pleased to announce that on January 1, 2019, we merged with Newtown Professional Billing in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. This is STI’s fifth acquisition in the last 3½ years. We intend to continue the growth of our RCM Division as physicians and office managers have begun to see the advantage of having a professional staff who can keep up with the ever-changing requirements of billing and A/R follow-up in the complex environment of medical revenue cycle management.
