SOUTHERN REGION (MALAYSIA) BIBLE CONFERENCE 2018

We had our Bible Conference from 17th-18th November, 2018 in Johor Bahru (JB). The churches in the Southern Region were blessed by the team led by Ps. Samuel Phun from River Community Church, Singapore. Apart from the conference, the Singapore team also organised a parallel children camp for all our PKC (Praise Kids Club) children. During the two-day event, many people including the children were greatly inspired by their hearts for evangelism and children ministry looking at the effort being put in to organise the event.
The conference started with Ps. Sam sharing on his personal testimonies and the encounter which he had with God before coming to JB. He was vulnerable to share about his past experiences while recounting his journey of knowing God and discovering his calling for children ministry. It is a testimony of how a broken life can be completely transformed by the love of God when one humbly surrenders His life to God.

On the other hand, we were amazed when he told us how God had spoken to him through dreams about coming to JB to share the burden that He has laid in his heart. We felt privileged as God brought his servant to encourage us with regards to children ministry. Throughout the conference, we were also thrilled by some of his trademark expression that had become part and parcel of his life.  It is no doubt that many children were attracted to him when he shared. In fact, we enjoyed much of the session while being challenged by the message.

During the second day, Ps Sam brought us deeper into the importance of children ministry. Though a Singaporean, he firmly believed that God is raising up a generation in Malaysia that would bring the gospel and love to every corner of the land and we, are the generation. He rallied the people to take up the opportunity and responsibility to pastor the next generation and steward them towards the purpose of God. On the other hand, he also challenged us to commit ourselves to God and lay down our life for His purpose. We learned that many of his church members including his own children commit fully to the ministry though having a permanent job. This serves as a great encouragement and perhaps a timely reminder to us as we tend to neglect the priorities amidst our busy lifestyle.

The children camp echoed what was being shared in the main sanctuary where the children were being imparted on the importance of bringing the gospel to their friends. Many children shared how they encounter God speaking to them throughout the camp as well.

Ps Sam promised to train our PKC teachers on a consistent basis as he really desired to see the ministry being build up in the church. In summary, it opens our eyes on what can be done with regards to children ministry when there is passion and creativity. It helps us to reflect on the importance of reaching out to the next generation. As we came to an end to year 2018, it serves as a good reflection whereby we could pray and act upon in year 2019.  Once again, we thank Father God for this exposure and we thank Ps Sam and his team for the wonderful blessing.
