Important Notices

Electoral Roll

Every six years, a new Church Electoral Roll must be prepared ahead of the APCM. Whether you're currently on the roll or not, all must fill in a form to enrol no later than 25th March. Forms will be available this Sunday to join the electoral roll. Joining the Electoral Roll says you want to be an active member of our church and allows you to vote on church matters at our APCM (30th April).

Thank Lindsey Goodhew

A card to sign for Lindsey Goodhew will be available on the welcome desk for the next few weeks as we say good-bye before she leaves her post as St Nics Student Worker. If you would like to contribute to a farewell gift, please place a contribution in the basket on the welcome desk, or hand it to Gateway Shop during the week. Lindsey will start her new post as Associate Minister at St Barnabas Church in Linthorpe in the Diocese of York in July.

Communion Linen - Help Needed!

We'd like to thank Maureen Plowman for her many years of serving the church each week by cleaning the communion linen. She has served so faithfully and deserves a massive thank you! Maureen recently decided that she would like to pass on this role to someone else in the church. If you would like to serve our church family in this way--taking home the linen every couple of weeks to wash (as normal whites, no special treatment) and iron them-- please get in touch with the office.

Church Spring Cleaning

We are planning to do an early "spring clean" of the church on 5th March. The staff will be clearing out and organising all of our storage spaces. If you/your ministry store things in the church, please can you make sure it is clearly labelled and whether or not we need to keep it or bin it! Thank you in advance!

St. Nics Daily Prayer Diary

Sunday – Pray for our buildings, the opportunities they provide for us to worship and to share our faith with others.

Monday – Pray for members of our prayer ministry team that they will draw closer to God so that others can be drawn closer to God in prayer.

Tuesday – Pray for the work of the churches across Durham. For Durham Christian Partnership and Durham Churches Together. For the Deanery of Durham.

Wednesday – For Small Group leaders and members of small groups that they may have wisdom to teach and learn, to care for one another and grow in discipleship.

Thursday – Pray for people who are not well enough to be with us in church and for those who are caring for them. Pray for adequate rest and sleep and for them to feel God’s loving presence and peace.

Friday – That as a church community we may discern and follow God’s will for us. That we may reflect the grace and goodness of God in our corporate life and with one another.

Saturday – For the places to which God has called us to be a part: for the Market Place, the city centre, the city and county of Durham. For the communities of which we are a part.

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for Alpha and the discipleship relationships that are forming.
  • Thank God for Kate Swann and the Holiday Club team.
  • For Jeannette Brinkman as she is away for 11 weeks volunteering in Africa
  • Pray for the family of the Rev Anthony Idris Jata'u - a priest in Nigeria who was abducted and killed and whose wife and children are now being held hostage for ransom. Please join your prayers with those of Justin Welby who has said: "My prayers and those of the whole community at Lambeth Palace are with the family of the Reverend Anthony Idris Jata'u, who grieve even as they continued to be held in captivity and great danger," he said. "May God draw near to them in comfort, and bring the freedom and justice that are so urgently needed."
  • Give thanks for the safe arrival of Alfie Todd (parents: Jane and Allen Todd) and Eve Jane Carter (grandparents: Graeme and Emily Carter.)
  • Please pray for our stewardship of God's world, that we might preserve it in all its beauty and diversity.
