The UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP) aims to co-create a new kind of policymaking that has public purpose and public value at its core. This involves building meaningful partnerships. Building on our work with organisations like the European Commission and UNDP, we have entered into formal partnerships with two global organisations committed to shaping the future of policy with public purpose.
At the World Government Summit in Dubai we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the OECD to work closely on developing dynamic capabilities for mission-oriented public institutions and creating new policy toolkits that deliver public value. And we announced a new partnership with Climate-KIC to develop our ground-breaking mission-oriented innovation and re-directing economies towards sustainable and inclusive green growth. It is the first time that a UCL department has become a Climate-KIC partner.
IIPP is thrilled to have some of the world’s best thinkers work with us to achieve our mission. A standing-room-only event, IIPP hosted a public lecture this week from Branko Milanovic—the world-leading thinker on global inequality. Branko also delivered the latest lecture in our pathbreaking Rethinking Capitalism course—both talks will soon be available for you to enjoy on our YouTube channel.
I am delighted to announce that Hilary Cottam, the internationally acclaimed social entrepreneur, has joined IIPP as a visiting professor and will teach on our MPA in Innovation, Public Policy and Public Value. Her work focuses on collaborative and affordable solutions to some of the greatest social challenges of our time.
