Exhibitions:

Peak District Artisans are delighted to announce a new collaboration with the Druid Inn, Birchover. PDA members will be exhibiting work in this beautifully renovated and historic Peak District Pub on an ongoing basis. The first exhibition, featuring work by Alison Wake, Gary Sampson and Sandra Orme, opens with a preview evening on Tuesday12th March and runs until Sunday 28th April



Work will be displayed in the Bar, Tap, Snug and Restaurant areas, and visitors are welcome to wander and view the exhibition throughout. The Druid Inn is open Wed-Sunday, see druidinnbirchover.co.uk for specific opening hours

Ingrid Katarina Karlsson has been invited to be guest artist at the Macclesfield Open Art Exhibition in Macclesfield Town Hall, 22nd - 24th March 2019. The theme chosen for Ingrid's display will be The Moon Almanac. The event runs for 3 days with a Friday premier preview 2pm - 7pm; Saturday 10am - 5pm; Sunday 10am - 4pm
Ingrid has also been invited to exhibit at The Wishing Tree Gallery, Glossop. This gem of a gallery in the high street now stocks a range of Ingrid's mixed media narrative work, including large and small originals, plus framed and unframed prints (opening hours Tu-Fri 9.30-16.30; Sat 9.30-12.00)
PDA members Alison Wake and Pam Smart will both be exhibiting work in the Spring Gathering Open Exhibition at The Green Man Gallery, Buxton. 
The exhibition opens with a Launch Event on Friday 29th March, from 6.30 to 9.30pm, and runs until Wednesday 24th April.

And you still have the opportunity to see work by Alison Wake, Giles Davies, Jill Ray, Mark Langley, Roger Allen and Robert Twigg in the Harley Open Exhibition, at the Harley Gallery, until 24th March.

Workshop Dates:

If you are in need of a gift that is calorie free and doesn’t require watering, how about treating your lovely Mum to a relaxing and creative day with Liz Wellby at The Slipper Studio, on the edge of the Peak District? Posies and Pots is on Saturday 30th March. See lizwelby.co.uk for more details

March will be a busy month for Liz as she is also heading down to Hampshire to run a series of creative workshops in the beautiful Meon Valley - Art in The Barn. Liz will be one of a team of three artists running a range of workshops, form 21st to 25th March, all delivered in a beautiful thatched barn. For further details see bloomingdesigns.com

Would you like to start painting but don’t know where to start? Why not join artist Pam Smart in her beautiful studio on Thursday 28th March, for an introduction to painting in acrylic. The workshop is designed for complete beginners. Pam will gently guide you through a range of techniques and fun activities, looking at different brush types, colour mixing and layering. A relaxing day with all materials, refreshments and lunch included.

Also on Thursday 28th March join artist Maggie Robinson at St John’s Gallery and Café in Ashbourne for her workshop entitled ‘Confidence with colour.’ Making paintings ‘sing’ requires knowledge and understanding of how colours react with each other and their emotional impact. During her two day Egg Tempera Folk Art Workshop, Sue Prince will guide you through simple techniques to produce your own folk art celebrations using egg tempera paints you have made yourself.
The workshop will be held on 25th and 26th March at the lovely St John Street Gallery and Café in Ashbourne, where you will also enjoy a splendid lunch and some lovely cakes!

New PDA Gift Vouchers

Choosing artwork for someone else can be difficult. Why not let them choose for themselves by giving a new Peak District Artisans Gift Voucher. Available in multiples of £10 they make the perfect gift. 


Vouchers must be purchased online via the PDA website and will be posted out. They can be used in full or part payment when purchasing products or services from any current member of PDA so can be used for workshops as well as artwork.

Other News:

If you’ve enjoyed Michela Griffith’s re-imagination of The Cascade House at Chatsworth, you might like to know that she is busy working on a new photomontage  which mixes local architecture with water.  She’s been spending the last year collecting reference images and is compositing these ready for a big reveal in May 2019.

Contemporary ceramicist Sue Gorman is working on a new range of jewellery swapping her porcelain clay for something completely different - polymer clay. Each vibrant piece is unique and demonstrates the skills Sue has acquired over the years using various techniques such as neriage and mokume gane. She is currently designing and producing a series of pendants and earrings for her upcoming show at Dronfield Hall Barn in April, more in next month's newsletter.

We are always looking to welcome new members. Applications are reviewed by a membership group representing a cross section of genres and potential members will be invited for interview. We run three selection panels each year and deadlines for our summer and autumn intake are 2nd May and 2nd October respectively.
