Black History Month Potluck
THIS Friday 3/1 (6-8pm)

There will be raffles, prizes, speakers, and performances. Everyone welcomed!

If you are bringing a dish to share, please label it and bring it to the Community Room by 5:45pm. We're looking for volunteers to help serve! Please email Ms. Classy at martinc@sfusd.edu.
Library News:
K-2 Author Event, Tues. 3/5

On Tuesday, 3/5, author/illustrator Peter H. Reynolds will be visiting Lakeshore. Reynolds is the award-winning author of many wonderful picture books, including The Dot, Ish, The Word Collector, and many more.

All Kindergarten-2nd grade students will attend an assembly in the Community Room from 9:45-10:45. And, even more exciting, each student will receive their own personal, autographed, FREE copy of his upcoming book Say Something! This book encourages children to express their ideas and dreams because everyone’s beliefs are important.

We are very excited about this event! Thank you to the Library Department, Books, Inc., and Mr. Hartford for making this event possible.

Questions? Contact Ms. Lauren at sidlel@sfusd.edu. Learn more about Peter Reynolds at peterhreynolds.com.
Lakeshore Parent Night (3/7):
Developmental Milestones
& Behaviors

We invite you to attend the 2nd Lakeshore Parent Night hosted at FACES SF (100 Whitney Young Circle, SF). Dinner will be provided. Please RSVP to Ms. Sadja at sadjas@sfusd.edu.

Thursday, March 7 (5-6:30pm)
How to Best Advocate for Your Child
This session focuses on how to navigate through the school system to support your children. We will highlight school structures that offer opportunities for parents to know how their children are progressing and discuss effective ways to partner with teachers to accelerate student learning.
SFUSD Secured ERAF Surplus
Last week, the Board of Supervisors unanimously supported establishing a special fund to provide bridge funding for SFUSD and pre-school educator salaries while Props G and C are being challenged in Court.

In addition to the $26 million for the District's Rainy Day Reserve and $9 million for PEEF, the City will reserve up to $42 million of ERAF funding for the City's Rainy Day Reserve, a total of $77 million for public schools! The powerful coalition of PTA, UESF, the Parents Union, Parents for Public Schools, community organizers, educators and parents worked together to secure funding for our schools. Kudos everyone!
Save the Date:
32nd Annual Science Fair

Lakeshore's 32nd annual Science Fair will take place Wednesday, March 20. Teachers will provide more instructions regarding projects but start thinking about what you want to learn! Students should bring their projects to class by Tuesday, March 19.

All are invited to view the projects at 5pm on March 20, and also to enjoy special hands-on science presentations in the Cafeteria.

Can you volunteer? Anyone can participate. No science knowledge required. Please sign up online at bit.ly/ls19sfair or contact Chris McCarthy at exoplanet@gmail.com.
