Dear Friends,

This week I found inspiration from two celebrations. When Susan McPherson came to town, she used her gift for connecting people and gathered together 14 of her LA friends. Rather than introducing us formally, Susan asked us each to share a journey that we would like to take this year. Some shared exotic destinations and others shared personal journeys, yet each gave us insight into the people at the table. Speaking of journeys, my father turned 85 this week, inspiring me with his constant positivity, curiosity, humor, and empathy. Happy Birthday, Dad!

Tell your story

When asked what you do at a dinner party or at the playground, always give your history. “I spent 10 years in marketing and now I am home for a couple of years with the kids” is a far better answer than “Oh, I’m at home with the kids.” The first answer begins a conversation; the second one ends it.
