Regional Futures eNews: February 2019

From the co-CEOs

The Regional Australia Institute (RAI) is in full swing with an exciting year ahead and as this is our first message to you as the co-CEOs, we’d like to extend our gratitude for all the lovely messages of support and congratulations. We are both honoured and delighted to be given the opportunity to lead such a unique and valuable organisation, for over 9 million people living in regional Australia.

The first quarter of this year is critically important as we begin to roll out our national events series - Regions Rising - as well as launch into our Intergovernmental Shared Inquiry Program 2019.

This year’s Shared Inquiry will continue to look at the future of jobs in regional areas, and will also delve into a new topic, Mid-Sized Towns. Over the coming weeks, the RAI will be unveiling some of our latest work, including the release of our National Population Strategy for Regional Australia.

If you haven’t booked your tickets to our first Regions Rising National Summit and Policy Masterclass at Old Parliament House on 4 and 5 April, we’d encourage you to register online. More information is available in our newsletter below.

This month, we have also launched our new edition of InSight – our regional competitive index tool. InSight aims to help regional communities track how they are travelling across key economic performance indicators. See below for the latest information.

And finally, we would like to extend our best wishes to former CEO Jack Archer. His contribution to the organisation has been invaluable, and we wish him all the best with his future endeavours.
