Welcome!

Hello to all our fellow women working in Local Government in WA!

This is the first of what will be regular missives from your ALGWAWA committee (we just call ourselves the WAWA’s!) that will inform you and connect you with other women, and men, working in Local Government in WA.

The current committee has been working hard doing some strategic planning to inform the year ahead, and how we can best serve and support women in LG, whether they are Elected Members or officers working at any level from the CEO down; and whether they are in metro, rural, regional or remote WA. Our mission is based on our belief that Local Government is a better government when it is representative and inclusive, and we can do this by creating an inclusive, supportive and rewarding environment for all women working in Local Government.

Our objectives are to:

• Drive cultural change in LG
• Lead by example
• Influence and advocate
• Support and help develop female leaders
• Be a well governed and well resourced organisation

There are a number of ways we will be meeting our objectives this year, through events and training sessions.

Subscribe to our mailing list or follow us on Facebook to stay in the loop.
