WHAT TO EXPECT THIS SUNDAY
If you are, by nature, spiritual, if you relish religious thoughts and like nothing better than being at church, and sitting through a sermon, focusing upon higher matters, then the words you will hear this Sunday won’t have nothing much to say to you.
If you know where the next meal is coming from, if you are appreciated in your job, content with your life, full of enthusiasm for your daily work, with kids who are obedient, sorry there’s nothing much for you in Jesus’ words from Scripture. Take Bill Gates advice who once said: Just in terms of the allocation of time resources, religion is not very efficient. There’s a lot more I could be doing on Sunday morning.” Enjoy your Sunday.
But if by chance you get frustrated, you know want, you feel ill-futured, if you try hard to pay attention during the sermon but get nothing out of it, if you have known loss, if sometimes you even wonder if you are loved, then this Sunday might have some good news for you. We focus on Jesus’ short sermon, thought to be his best sermon by blessing the poor -- poor in spirit and materially poor - rejoicing with them ( Luke 6:17-26). Our core value for this Sunday is: We support one another. We seek to be a scaffolding of laughter and joy in good times and care and support when people go through the hard times. On this President’s Day weekend, we hope you will join us at 10 am!
This Sunday, the music will be led by Nate and the choir. The choir will sing a beautiful anthem entitled “Offering”, a song about being generous and missional. Nate will also provide some improvisations as well. Hope to see you there!
