The Yogic Story of Cupid
In classical mythology which dates back to 700bc,
we find reference to the story of Cupid, the god of desire.
Did you know that in yogic mythology dating back further, to 1500bc
there was reference to the lord of desire, Kamadeva.
The word "Kama" also means desire and the word "deva" is god.
It is said that Kamadeva was born from the mind of the supreme being Brahma.
Kamadeva is depicted with a bow made of sugar cane
and strung with a line of honey bees.
His arrows were made of 5 types of flowers. This god of love aroused passion and love in whomever he struck with his cosmic arrows.
