DanceSport on TV

2019/02/13

We are doing our best to promote DanceSport. Our Social Media is growing, thanks to all of you, your athletes and their fans, and we have live streams, a huge YouTube channel with thousands of subscribers and millions of views. But to complete the supply it is necessary to have DanceSport broadcasted also on television, all over the World.

To help attracting the TV networks we have compiled a package, a turnkey deal for the 2019 GrandSlam Series. Twelve one-hour programmes as a series, all with an international sound and cleared music, graphics, dope sheets and music cue sheets. The package includes also a 30-second trailer for each programme and close encounters with the top athletes. It is easy, it is simple, it is cheap, and most of all, it is the best of Standard and Latin DanceSport today.

We are asking all NMB:s to consider approaching your National TV Broadcaster with this offer. We have some contacts, but we are sure you have better ones. The right ones. And if you don’t have any then this is an easy way to start building contacts; asking and offering a simple package does not cost anything nor does it take too much of your time. The right relationship to a National Broadcaster has to be made from the National Federation… you have the same interest (national sport), and talk the same language.

We can support you with material with all details including the delivery dates and contents of the programmes. We also encourage you to offer your own commentators, your top athletes or top coaches, to help the broadcaster have the best and most up-to-date experts in the studio explaining and telling about our sport from the inside view.

By bringing the beauty, aesthetic and sport aspects of DanceSport close to everyone, from kids to the elderly, on as many channels as possible we can expand the knowledge and familiarity of our wonderful sport to wider audiences worldwide. Promoting DanceSport on national TV networks helps also you to promote your national operations and events to the existing but also to new audiences.

The Duel format at 2019 WDSF PD Super GrandPrix

2019/02/13

The competition format in 2019 WDSF PD Super GrandPrix finals will be the Duel format, as seen in 2018 WDSF GrandSlam Final in Shanghai.

Just like before, six couples proceed to the final. From there on The Final Showdown will begin. Two couples at a time will share the dancefloor. They will boost and challenge each other to perform better, to rise to the next level, and to do their best to steal the spotlight. The crowd will be able to focus on every couple’s performance.

The heats will be drawed so that each finalist couple will face each of the five fellow couples once. After the draw everybody will know which couples will share the dance floor in which dance.

Five dances and six couples, one-on-one on the dance floor. Three heats per dance, total of 15 dances. At the end of each dance a double kiss & cry.

We asked some couples in Shanghai in December how they felt about replacing solo and group dances with a duel. See the feedback by clicking the link below.

So many messages through different social media channels has meant it has been quite impossible to for us to control it, or to be in time with reading and reacting to them. And, at the same time we would really want to spread the news, share the best photos and distribute information of WDSF events.

By opening a new communication channel, a dedicated inbox communication@wdsf.org, we are hoping to gather all the information in one place so that we can inform the DanceSport Community about the WDSF events in time.
