There is a lot going on here at Sylvania UCC! Between Health Ministries, Outreach, Faith Formation & Fellowship the month of February and March are filling up the calendars! Way to go everyone, this warms our hearts! Below are some highlighted events to keep in mind, these groups work hard at putting things in motion for our church family, please join them if you can!

Polar Bear Bash: Snow or no snow, join us on Saturday, 23 February from 6 pm to 8 pm at the church for our yearly Polar Bear Bash! Games, stories, contests, food, and lots of laughs Come and bring a friend! Stop the Bleed: Please join Health Ministries for a potentially lifesaving program, on February 18, following the 6:00pm drop-in-dinner. The program will start at 6:45pm in the chapel. This is presented by Promedica Trauma Services. The program is meant to teach lay persons to respond with life saving measures to “stop the bleed” while waiting for emergency responders. Unfortunately, we live in a time when we never know when these skills may be needed. Blood loss takes too many lives, before emergency services arrive. With this knowledge, we can save lives! Bring a guest; we’d like to reach as many as possible.
HOLY CHOW!: Interested in sharing several meals and fellowship with other members? Holy Chow, starting in Spring 2019, is the perfect opportunity. Small groups of diners will be created, your group then decides all of the rules. You can meet out for dinner or alternate meals in each other’s homes. This activity generally covers a four-month time span but may vary depending upon the size of your group. If you are interested, please complete the sign-up sheet in the gathering area by February 24th. Please contact Barb Stender or Kelli Michael for more information.
WEDNESDAY MORNING STUDY GROUP: This is a reminder that the study group meets the first and third Wednesday of the month. The next meeting will be held on February 20. Please contact David Andersen if you have any questions.
Professional Level CPR & AED Training: Sylvania UCC is hosting a professional level CPR & AED Training on Sunday, February 24th, 2019 . The class will be held in the Chapel and will start at 7:00pm, and last approximately 1 and ½ hours. The instructor will be Steve Kahan again this year, and the fee is 40.00, which may be in check or cash. A sign-up sheet can be found in at the Fellowship board.
Evening out at Copper Moon Glass Studio: Save the date for a fun night out with your church family on Friday, March 8, from 6pm until 7:30pm at Copper Moon Glass Studio (Airport Highway). All ages invited! Participants can choose from projects ranging from $12-$56. Pizza will be provided! See the sign up in the gathering area for more details.
CALLING ALL BRIDGE PLAYERS: The church Bridge group is inviting current and new members of the group to sign up for 2019 by calling the church or using the sign-up sheet in the gathering area. We welcome pairs as well as singles hoping to match folks up with a partner. We play a form of party Bridge which is friendly to new comers. We take turns hosting an afternoon or evening of Bridge at our homes. Usually a light dessert or finger food is served. As our outreach focus each pair is offered the opportunity to make a $25 donation to support the mission of Grace Community Center. From March to November we schedule our games once a month from a roster that establishes the pairings for 8 games. Scores are handed in at the end of play and the winning couple is announced at a final gathering to be held in February or March.
