RES is just around the corner and we have some exciting updates to share! The National Center is proud to announce the hiring of Jason Lambert as a Business Development Specialist. Jason was brought on the team as a part of the recent Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) grant that the National Center is using to facilitate Native Edge Institutes (NEIs) to the East Coast. A 2011 recipient of the National Center's 40 under 40 award, Jason will be responsible for outreach and providing support for economic development, managing resources, and consulting and building business relationships with small businesses on the East Coast.

Darrell Redleaf is of Lakota and Hidatsa descent and will be hosting RES TV for the 2019 Reservation Economic Summit. With over 40 years of experience, Darrell is a top celebrity hair stylist, makeup artist, photographer, product developer, pitchman, commentator, and beauty guru and has worked with celebrities such as Ellen DeGeneres, Cameron Diaz, and Helen Hunt. Learn a bit more about Darrell and his business acumen, which includes founding personal care brand Redleaf America. Make sure to see him "in front of the camera" at RES 2019!

The National Center's First East Coast NEIs Are a Big Success
In February, the National Center hosted its first two East Coast Native Edge Institutes in Orlando, Florida and Cherokee, North Carolina. As the first East Coast NEIs, Orlando and Cherokee were excellent starting points for the beginning stages of the National Center's expansion into the East Coast. In the coming weeks, the National Center will announce the details of two more East Coast NEIs that will take place later this year in New York and Maine - stay tuned for updates and make sure to register for these informative and one-of-a-kind events!

The (Inter)National Center in the United Kingdom
National Center Chairman Derrick Watchman and Board Member Ernie Stevens, Jr. recently visited the United States Embassy in London and met with British officials on a mission through the U.S. Department of Commerce. There they discussed the trade and economic opportunities for Native American and Alaska Native tribes, as well as the importance of international trade for Indian Country.
