Happy Valentine's Day from Kauai

Hearts can be found everywhere

Aloha friends and family here on the Garden Island and far away. We have had a very cold streak the last week with temperatures in the 50s at night and a lot of wind and rain. Remember my mainland and Alaska friends we do not have heat or insulation in our homes so the outside temp is the inside temp. There is snow on the mountains of Maui and the Big Island and close to freezing on our Kauai mountains. The waves are big and forceful and not a time to be in the water. We are happy for the sun when it comes out and it really feels wonderful. What this type of weather does bring are beautiful rainbows daily.

The Shadow Box

Friday February 15 - March 3
Thursday-Saturday 7pm, Sunday 4pm

KCP’s second play of the 2019 season is Michael Cristofer’s The Shadow Box, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play directed by Jo Grande.

“We all know end of life is a particularly special time; special in nearly every way. The Shadow Box eloquently explores the issue, from laughter to sorrow, from disbelief to understanding, from depression to elation. This brilliant play leaves one with a strong sense of the goodness and treasure of being alive.”
Arnold Meister

Synopsis:

This Pulitzer prize winning drama takes place over twenty-four hours. In this compelling dramatic triptych, three terminal cancer patients dwell in separate cottages on a hospital’s grounds. The three are attended and visited by family and close friends: Agnes and her mother Felicity, estranged further by the latter’s dementia; Brian and Beverly, whose marital complications are exacerbated by Brian’s new lover, Mark; and Joe and Maggie, unready for the strain of Joe’s impending death and its effect on their teenage son.
