Be kind to each other…

Today is Valentine’s Day – celebrated by many, ignored by others. It’s also a time when some of us may feel a bit disconnected or lonely.

At Neighbour Day we think that Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to connect with those around you. Why not invite a neighbour over for a cuppa or a simple meal? Or chase up a friend or neighbour for a walk?

Whatever you choose to do, be kind to each other.

Don’t forget to tell us your story!

Entries to our Tell Us Your Story competition close 5pm on 26 February, so there’s still plenty of time to share your story of how you have created neighbourly connections!

We will award winners for each state and territory a $100 prize, whilst the overall national winner will win $400.

Go on, tell us your story, we’re sure you’ve got a good one to tell! #TellUsYourStory

Neighbourly Blogs

This year we have been running a series of weekly blogs telling stories of loneliness, community celebration and community connection. Make sure you jump on to our website each Friday to read our new blog.

This week we will be running a blog from our friend Sonia Oke from Very Neighbourly Organisation Conservation Volunteers Australia and New Zealand who talks about the meaningful personal connections that can be created when people work alongside each other as volunteers.

Last week’s blog was written by the Tasmanian winner of our 2018 Tell Us Your Story competition, Gina Olivieri, who writes about how her neighbourhood pedalled its way to being a closer community.
