SPECIAL COMMUNICATION - FEB 2019

Dear Parents

As discussed in our Class Info Sessions, we place a high premium on effective communication.  It remains an integral tool within any organisation and as such is indispensable for effective relationship management between the school and our school families.

For effective communication to take place, it needs to be meaningful and conducive to good relationships between the staff, management and parents. Stumble blocks to communication occur when negativity creeps in, which could take various forms – one being erosive, careless comments.  This in itself breaks down the good work that we as a school have invested years in, as well as the close ties that we aim at building with each existing member of our school family, as well as new family members joining us.

To develop good relationships takes effort from all parties. In our opinion, there is a range of interpersonal and communication skills that are vital in this process:
  • Warmth
  • Approachability
  • Child–centredness
  • Loyalty
  • Reliability
  • Trust

Trust is very important and it develops when all parties are open and clear about expectations and boundaries. With that in mind, it has been brought to our attention that a private WhatsApp group was established by some of our parents, which in itself appears innocent and conducive to the encouragement of dialogue.  However, the moment a social connection becomes a platform for negativity and destructive input, the interests of our school family are being sabotaged.

We would like to implore parents to please be vigilant and not open yourselves up to this type of destructive social connections. Rather help to ensure that communication is kept meaningful, building a positive, uplifting spirit in our school community.  We need parents to take hands with us as a school and work together, functioning as a community.  Building a peaceful and happy environment is so important for all concerned.  We can only do this if parents trust our decisions, policies and expertise, all of which are being applied with your children’s best interest at heart.

Should you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us – For everyday matters, Rosina may be reached via the office phone, WhatsApp (during school hours) or admin@caprischools.co.za. For matters of a more serious nature, please contact Elbe on info@caprischools.co.za.

Thank you for your support, loyalty and co-operation with regard to the above. Assuring you of our best attention at all times.

Kind regards

Elbe Webber (principal), Rosina Lee-Warden (vice principal) & Team
