Peter Mares: No Place Like Home - Repairing Australia’s Housing Crisis

More than a million lower-income households in Australia pay above the affordability benchmark for their housing costs. More than 100,000 people are homeless. Almost nine out ten people are concerned that home ownership might be out of reach for future generations. Yet owning a home is still seen by most Australians as an essential part of our way of life. Join us as award-winning journalist Peter Mares and author of No Place Like Home: Repairing Australia’s Housing Crisis tackles this complex issue.

Queenie Chan is a Hong Kong-born manga-style comic book artist and the author. Her latest comic book introduces Wu Zetian, a controversial Chinese historical figure. In this talk, Queenie will share with us the challenges in portraying Wu’s life and the mysteries/distortions around it.

Elizabeth Chong - Making Chinese Food Popular in Australia

Elizabeth Chong has taught more than 35,000 students, written eight cookbooks and contributed to major hospitality journals and magazines.  Elizabeth will speak about how her passion for Chinese cookery contributed to the rapid growth of Chinese food in the 1960s to becoming one of the most popular cuisines in Australia.
