First International AtlantOS Symposium, 25-28 March 2019, Paris (France)


This high-level symposium will celebrate the success of the Horizon 2020 EU Research and Innovation Action AtlantOS, and simultaneously mark the beginning of the international AtlantOS (Atlantic Ocean Observing System) as the All-Atlantic part of the Global Ocean Observing System. The symposium will bring together scientists, policy makers, users, funders and other stakeholders, to articulate and refine our joint Atlantic ambition for ocean observing.

48th Annual Benthic Ecology Meeting, 3-6 April 2019, St John's (Canada)


This yearly meeting is to exchange scientific information focusing on marine benthic ecosystems (e.g., rocky intertidal, coral reef) and to foster the next generation of benthic biologists. The mission of BEM is to promote research in benthic ecosystems, support the exchange of information about benthic ecology, and encourage student participation to develop the next generation of benthic ecologists.

7th European Phycological Congress, 25-30 August 2019, Zagreb (Croatia)


The European Phycological Congress series began in Cologne in 1996, and has continued the tradition of bringing together every four years phycologists from across the world from all fields of phycology (including cyanobacteria and algae). The seventh meeting will take place in Zagreb, Croatia.

Open call: Blue Bioeconomy Co-fund 2019


The call for proposals is now open for the ERA-NET Blue Bioeconomy co-fund. The main objective of the COFUND is to establish a coordinated R&D funding scheme that will strengthen Europe’s position in the blue bioeconomy, identifying new and improving existing ways of bringing bio-based products and services to the market.

Open Call: Knowledge Hub on Food and Nutrition Security


The overall aim of the Knowledge Hub on Food and Nutrition Security is to foster transnational and multidisciplinary collaboration and networking in order to accelerate, further characterize and to manage the impact of climate change on nutritional make-up of food, and to propose adaptive strategies/ measures to ensure food and nutrition security.

Training opportunities

 

Conduct of Marine Scientific Research (MSR) under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, 6-10 May 2019, Oostende (Belgium)


This course will provide an overview of the legal, technical and scientific aspects of the MSR regime, particularly with respect to consent procedures, so as to reinforce the participants’ knowledge of the rights and obligations of coastal and researching States. It will also touch upon matters relating to the development and transfer of marine technology under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Associate Senior Lecturer in Marine Chemistry, University of Gothenburg (Sweden)

Postdoctoral position available in Fish Protistology, Czech Academy of Sciences (Czech Republic)


A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Laboratory of fish protistology at the Institute of Parasitology, Biology Center of Czech Academy of Sciences in České Budějovice. The main interest of the lab are Myxozoa, an ancient group of cnidarian parasites that have conquered a range of different aquatic habitats and fish hosts.

JPI Oceans Launch Knowledge Hub on the Integrated Assessment of New Pollutants


The 'Integrated Assessment of New Pollutants' Knowledge Hub is a network consisting of selected experts from JPI member countries. It will look into the need to improve the methodological basis for marine chemical status assessment, e.g. by focusing on increasing the efficiency of integrated assessment methodologies.
