Blue Wave Goes Green

Hi everyone, we’re delighted to have been asked to make a regular contribution to your newsletter, and will take this opportunity to update you on what’s happening in the Café and tell you about our monthly special offers and deals.

But first – an issue that we are all concerned about - with current talk of plastic pollution and the tragedy of single use plastics being on everyone’s radar, the team at Blue Wave Catering have been looking at ways to reduce our plastic footprint.  Last year when the club installed the new water fountains upstairs we swapped the white plastic cups for the reusable coloured (plastic – I know ….) water beakers. However, this small change means in the last 12 months we have saved over 3000 single use plastic cups from ending up in landfill or the ocean – the majority of these were used during the summer with the children’s courses.

We have also swapped out the expanded foam plates and burger boxes for cardboard which is at least biodegradable.  If you do see us using any plastic cutlery or boxes, please be assured we are just using up old stock and any new disposables will be recyclable.

And so to the first of our specials for February – a free mini pack of biscuits with every hot drink purchased – while stocks last (200 available).  We have also added the ‘Caroline Special’ to our regular menu (that’s a BLT to you and me!)  In March we will have a daily soup and wrap combo for £6, so do check out your cafeteria to see what we have to offer.
We look forward to serving you, the Catering Team
