WAS POSTPONED DUE TO SNOW
February 19th meeting presentation:

Mistake Proofing (Poka Yoke)

Your car won’t start; all the den-lights just went out; the garage-door won’t close.
What is going wrong? Actually – something is going right, something is looking out for you, keeping you from getting hurt. You will probably recognize mistake-proofing at work.
In this presentation we shall see how poka yoke can either prevent mistakes or immediately detect them; we shall review, through several examples, how some actions are much more effective than others, how safeguards can be easily neutralized, and that benefits must be balanced with costs – all considerations in selecting and implementing the actions to take.

Attention All Members with ASQ Certification

Effective January 1, 2019 all ASQ recertification will be done via an on-line journal (https://asq.org/cert/myru) . ASQ's new online recertification portal is user-friendly and secure.  This new process will reduce recertification cycle time to 5-7 business days from weeks and insure your personal data is secure.  The journal is maintained in real-time and has a dashboard for your RUs.  Scanned images of training can be dragged to the journal and will archive your complete document history.  When the journal is ready, it is submitted by selection the Recertify Now button.

If you need assistance getting started with your online journal, please reach out to a member of our leadership team.

The VOC Chair is looking to hear your voice!

As the Voice of the Customer Chair, it is my duty to make sure the customer’s voice is being heard.
To that end, for some time now, I have been handing out feedback forms at our dinner meetings to hear how we are doing as far as the subject matter, venue, meal, etc. as well as your comments (like the VOC Chair is awesome!)
Also, within the past year, the form has been expanded to solicit ideas / subjects you would like to have addressed in future meetings.
Generally, I have been very please with the level of participation (most of the time 100%) and the level of enthusiasm in the comments and other feedback.
All this feedback has been greatly appreciated and has been used to improve / modify our meetings.
However, at best, I am hearing the voice of 25 – 30 of my Customers (members of the Western Mass Section 0109). The total number is 155.
I need to hear all the voices!
My invitation to all our newsletter recipients is to give me your feedback. Especially to members who have not been to a meeting for a while or haven’t been to one at all.
I am especially interested in what would get you to come to a meeting, change of day, time, venue, format, etc.
Please send your feedback / comments to me at MSzteliga@sections.asq.org
Additionally, my plan is to send separately, via email, a survey to attendees of our dinner meetings in 2016 and 2017 who have not attended our last 5 meetings. This will be to specifically ask “how can we get you back?”
Regards,
Mike Szteliga
