Member Nigel from Chilton Polden reported this experience last Thursday.
I received a call yesterday supposedly from Openreach informing that a faster speed was now available and that I would qualify for an upgrade as I was paying for a service that did not deliver (which is true – BT! ). Today I received the promised phone call supposedly from Openreach and they wanted to re-set the router for the faster speed. To do this they asked me to open an app on my computer which would allow them access to the router. At that point I told them I would phone Openreach direct to check it out, needless to say my thoughts were confirmed that the caller was after access to my computer. Openreach were working near Edington yesterday so initially I thought it was Openreach I was talking to. Anyway, beware of calls to upgrade your broadband speed!
