Meet this week's reporter - Gia Garrick
Coromandel-raised Gia Garrick has reported for TVNZ, NewstalkZB and RNZ. For the past two years she's worked as a parliamentary press gallery reporter, covering political issues across the board; including the last general election. Given the transition to the Coalition Government after 10 years of National in charge, she was keen to explore an issue close to its core. With the unions so central to Labour's existence the increase in strike action was an obvious one. She's taken the rhetoric of the past year around the impact of the increased strike action and looked at what it actually means for New Zealanders.
Gia graduated from AUT journalism school in 2014 and is a qualified surf lifeguard. (And yes, it's pronounced 'Jee-ah')
