Dear ones,
We are less than one week away from Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the holy season of Lent. So... this weekend we feast! Fat Tuesday, Shrovetide, Mardi Gras, Carnevale, whatever you choose to call this time leading up to Lent... it is a time to to feast, to revel in that last gasp of Ordinary Time and to eat rich and fatty foods before our 40 penitential days of fasting. So, please, join us at Saint David's this Sunday for feasting, revelry and celebration! We will celebrate our patron Saint, all that God is doing in and through our parish and feast of pancakes, eggs and sausage. To everything and time there is a season - and this one calls for pancakes!
Laissez les bons temps rouler!

UPCOMING
St. David’s Men’s Group on Saturday, March 2:
On the first Saturday of each month, we invite the men of St. David’s (and their friends) to an informal breakfast and brief Bible study. Our deacon, Harvey Bale, started and led a similar group that became much beloved in his previous parish and would like to begin one here at St. David’s. Our next breakfast will be on Saturday, March 2 at 9 am at St. David’s. Please RSVP to the Rev. Harvey Bale so that we can get a good count for ordering coffee and breakfast food– and don’t be concerned if you cannot attend every Saturday scheduled. Contact Harvey with any questions.
Sunday, March 3:
March 3rd is a big Sunday for Saint David’s this year!
- First Sunday – 10am service led by our youth!
- Celebration of our Patron Saint, Saint David who’s Feast Day is the 1st of March.
- CHOP – Church House of Pancakes following the 10am service.
- Annual Meeting – During CHOP, following the 10am service.
- No Adult Forum or Sunday School.
Annual Meeting: The Saint David’s Annual Parish Meeting will take place on Sunday, March 3, following the 10 am service. All parishioners are encouraged to attend to vote and hear about the “State of Saint David’s parish” over pancakes and sausage! If you do not know if you are a voting member, please contact Joel Wood in the parish office.
2019 Vestry Nominees: Click here to read bio's for our 2019 Vestry candidates.
Ash Wednesday: The Holy season of Lent begins March 6 with our Ash Wednesday Liturgies of The Holy Eucharist and the Imposition of Ashes at 7:30 am, 12 noon and 6 pm. Those who have left over palms from past years, please bring them to church by Tuesday, March 2 so that they can be burned and added to the liturgical ashes.
There will be a memorial service for late parishioner, William Fraser:
Friday, March 8, 2019 at 11:00 am.
Lenten Adult Forum:
During the season of Lent we will be holding a five week forum series on Creating a practice of daily engagement with scripture, led by the Rev. Melesa Skoglund. Current research conducted in Episcopal Churches across the country has revealed that one of the primary catalysts for spiritual growth is a daily habit of interacting with the Bible. Join us after the 10am service during Lent, as we explore, create and develop a daily practice of scripture engagement!
Tuesday Morning Bible Study:
15 intrepid souls gathered for the first meeting of our new mid-week bible study! Please know that we continue to be open to all who are interested in going deeper into scripture with friends. We will be using the Disciple program, a well-known and respected program that covers both the Old and New Testaments over the course of 34 sessions. Though you can drop-in, this study is meant for those who are able and willing to commit to homework and regular attendance (as much as your schedule allows). Those interested in joining or with questions, please contact Kristen directly. Please rsvp so that we can order enough manuals and join us as we meet the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 10am and bring a friend!
Confirmation/Re-affirmation/Reception:
The Diocesan Service of Confirmation, for all those wishing to be confirmed, received or reaffirm their confirmation in the Episcopal Church, will be held at the Washington National Cathedral, May 11, 2019 at 10 am. If you or a loved one is interested in taking the next step in your own spiritual journey towards confirmation, reception or reaffirmation - or if you'd like to understand what we mean by these terms... please contact Kristen for discussion and next steps.
