The Market Is Back

The first SF Underground Farmers Market was a great success! We got a couple hundred people to eat some food, drink some drinks, buy some gifts, and learn about what's being made in the home kitchens of San Francisco. Most of the vendors sold out of what they brought, with one even taking backorders. We also got some great press!

So we're doing it again! The date is set for Thursday, January 28th. We don't have a venue yet, so if you know of a large space that you think could work, please let us know.

Want to be a vendor?

At our first market, we had a lot of homemade goodies. This time we hope to put more of the farmer in market, so we're asking backyard gardeners to participate. So if you have some backyard eggs, herbs, fruit or veggies that you'd like to sell, click the vendor link on the right and we'll be in touch. Don't worry if you don't have enough to fill a stand, we're going to team several farmers up together so everyone can participate. Just like last time, we're also looking for home food producers.

Aside from being a marketplace, we also want the underground farmers market to be a place where people can learn how to create their own home goods. Know how to pickle? Make soap? Kombucha? Sign up to lead a workshop.

Also, we want to have more music at this one, so contact us if you think your tunes make the cut.

The SF Underground Farmers Market is a venue where you can taste and purchase the food that is being produced in backyards and home kitchens in the Bay Area. At the last market, vendors sold homemade pies, sarsaparilla, jams all by "suggested donation."

In order to enter the market, we're going to ask everyone to sign up for a free membership to the SF Underground Farmers Market. Don't worry, it's just a formality.

About us

To sell at a farmers market, you need to produce your wares in a commercial kitchen. This is an impossible expense for many of us, so the underground farmers market is about helping to get some exposure for all of our fellow producers without the cash for a commercial kitchen.

These are veterans, people who've been making their products for years, but only able to share them with friends. We thought we'd give them a venue to share with the whole SF food community.

That's right. A market, and a live show, all rolled into one. Think a farmers market, but at night, with music and drinks.
