Natural Gas Safety Inspections in the Village of Cayuga Heights

NYSEG and Avangrid DDS are conducting natural gas safety inspections Monday-Saturday 8:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. during the coming months.   All residents with natural gas services should expect a visit from an Avangrid employee to check for any potential gas pipe replacement needs.  Avangrid employees have registered with CHPD.  They drive labeled white trucks and will have proper identification.  This project will continue until all natural gas services have been inspected, potentially into 2020.  Please contact Cayuga Heights PD or any other Village of Cayuga Heights office if you have further questions or concerns.  For detailed information, please see our website at http://www.cayuga-heights.ny.us/ or visit the NYSEG page here.

Upcoming Village Election

The 2019 Village Election will be held on Tuesday, March 19th at Kendal at Ithaca 2230 North Triphammer Road in Ithaca.  Polls are open noon to 9 p.m. on the 19th.  Offices to be filled include three Trustee positions for a two year term.  March 8th is the last day for voters to register with the Board of Elections to vote in the Village election.  March 12th is the last day for the Board of Elections to receive applications for an absentee ballot to be mailed to a voter.  March 18th is the last day for an applicant (or their agent) to personally deliver applications for an absentee ballot to the Board of Elections.  For more information, please click here.

Significant Elements is Seeking Donations

It's almost Spring, and that means, to many of us, time for Spring cleaning.  Historic Ithaca and Significant Elements are seeking donations of furniture, antiques, vintage collectibles, old house parts, surplus building materials, gardening equipment and tools.  Significant Elements accepts these items and then refurbishes them as needed so that they may be sold and used by new owners.  The store trains young adults, through the Work Preserve Program, in sales and repair skills, helping them rebuild their own lives and achieve financial independence, all while helping to foster a sustainable community.  For more information, please see http://www.significantelements.org/ or contact Significant Elements at 607-277-3450.

Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor

2018 Marked the 100th anniversary of the opening of the NYS Canal System as we know it today.  The 2018 Annual Report details progress towards preserving and promoting the 524-mile long canal system and fostering vibrant communities throughout the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor.  Cycling, paddling and hiking with the NYS Canalway Water Trail Guidebook and navigational map can be an exciting outing to plan for the spring.  Visit the site here and view monthly e-news and social media updates to stay current with upcoming events.
