Interbeing Sangha

Weekly Meeting

Please join us for our next weekly gathering, taking place Sunday, March 3rd for meditation and dharma sharing, 6:30pm at Unitarian Place (Kingston Unitarian Fellowship), 206 Concession Street.
The Raft and the Shore

"The teaching is like a raft that carries you to the other shore. The raft is needed, but the raft is not the other shore. An intelligent person
would not carry the raft around on his head after making it across to the other shore. Bhikkhus, my teaching is the raft which can help you
cross to the other shore beyond birth and death. Use the raft to cross to the other shore, but don’t hang onto it as your property. Do not
become caught in the teaching. You must be able to let it go."

― Thich Nhat Hanh, Old Path White Clouds

Sangha-led Service

Kingston Unitarian

Our sangha will be leading the Sunday morning service at Kingston Unitarian Fellowship on Sunday, April 7th at 10:30 am. As with the service we led in 2018, we will share Thay's teachings and our practice with an emphasis on the common ground between us, merging our traditional evening meeting with Sunday morning as a format for the service.
We are seeking volunteers from the sangha to share as many parts of the service as possible, including:
  • service leader
  • candle lighting
  • opening reading from Thay
  • time for all ages (children's story)
  • guided meditation (metta "lovingkindness" meditation)
  • reflection(s) on the topic of "Wholeness" (source: Thay's teachings)
  • closing reading from Thay
  • passing the basket for the collection
  • greeters at the door
We hope to have as many of our sangha family participate as possible... especially non-KUF members. If you are interested in taking an active role in the service, please contact interbeingkingston@gmail.com
Returning to our Roots

“People are stable and happy only when they are firmly rooted in their own tradition and culture. To uproot them would make them suffer. There are already enough people uprooted from their tradition today, and they suffer greatly, wandering around like hungry ghosts, looking for something to fill their spiritual needs. We must help them return to their tradition. Each tradition must establish dialogue with its own people first, especially with those young people who are lost and alienated.”

Our sangha has two teams helping to share leadership and facilitation of our meetings. Our Bell Minders Team are mindful facilitators for our weekly gatherings, as well as retreats, taking beautiful care of our friends in the practice including the bell. Our Sangha Care Team facilitates sangha care meetings, plans retreats, minds our library and resources, and coordinates outreach. If you are interested in helping with either or both, contact interbeingkingston@gmail.com for more information.
