The Community Connections Program is a new collaboration here on campus. The program is aimed at providing guidance to students during service activities, while also contributing to solving a community’s need that isn’t being met. The program will be working with different organizations to find out what their needs are, and then planning a service activity with the organization to target their need.
One of the program’s main goals is to increase student engagement with organizations in the community. We want to help students feel like they belong in the community! Another one of the program’s goals is to provide a better experience for the student and the organization.
We are currently working with ‘The Village at Heritage Point,’ a residential care community. There are fun service opportunities available for sign-up at this link on iServe! If you have any questions or want more information on how your organization can get involved, send an email to Natalie or Gloria.

The Wiles Hill Community Art Studio beautify Morgantown by designing and creating art installations across the community. Dorsey’s Knob Spirit Wall showcases both the culture and lives of Native Americans who inhabited the Morgantown area. With the history of West Virginia in mind, this Spirit Wall brings out Morgantown residents’ creativity!
Due to the unpredictable weather, the work on this Spirit Wall has been temporarily halted. As the weather gets warmer, Dorsey’s Knob is looking for volunteers who are interested in learning about the history of the Morgantown area and learn mosaic techniques.
Visitors and volunteers of the Spirit Wall are encouraged to appreciate our collective history while examining the work of art.
Anyone who is interested in being a part of this project should contact BOPARC at 304-296-8356 or check out their Facebook page “Studio 287” where work schedules are posted.
