A Note from the Director

March is here and the countdown to the end of school is on. I can hardly believe that we are fast approaching the end of another school year.

March is a wonderful and full month in the preschool. There will be a visits from many of our favorite people...science with Kathy Shonts, drama with Ms. Marie, music with Ms. Donna, the dental hygienist from Laxer, Long, and Savage DDS, the library story teller from South County Library; plus all the regular classroom activities.

On top of all of that, we are celebrating reading and writing this month with our Literacy Week (March 25-29) activities. Check out the details later in this newsletter. One of our goals this week is to see how many parents, grandparents, older siblings, etc. we can have visit our classrooms to read their favorite story to the children. Can you help? Look for a sign-up outside your child's classroom. Reading is a key to success throughout life and we hope this focus on reading will remind our children that it is important and a fun pastime. Let's start reading!!

Summer Camp registration forms have been distributed. Sign-up by March 18th so that we can ensure that each session will meet minimum enrollment. If you have questions, let me know.

Enjoy the coming of spring!!

At church, leading up to Easter, we are looking at Philippians 2:1-18, at what it means to "align" our lives with Jesus. Sundays in March we will look at the encouragement, consolation, fellowship, and compassion of Christ. If you don't currently have a church home, we'd love for you to join us any Sunday at 11. Children are welcome in worship (and we also have a great nursery if they are more comfortable there). I hope you have a blessed March!

March 25-29 will be our annual Literacy Week here at Preschool. Our theme this year is "Wild About Reading." You will see decorations around to help children get excited about reading. We will continue to read books, share stories, and participate in drama to build our literacy skills needed for reading and writing in "big" school.
One thing that we enjoy doing this week is having guests readers in our classrooms. All moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, siblings, etc. are invited to come in and share their favorite story with the class. Look for a sign-up outside your child's classroom. Our goal is to have 50 different readers throughout the classes over the week. Can you help???
It's time to register for Summer Camp at Good Shepherd. You already have the form. Please return all forms by Monday, March 18th. As usual we will hold all weeks based on enrollment for each week. Weeks may be cancelled due to lack of enrollment. The dates to save are…

You may be wondering what we do at Chapel time each week. The children meet Pastor Robert and I in the sanctuary for a time of singing, a Bible story, and prayer. It is a wonderful time where we hope they are learning that God made them and loves them more than they can imagine. Our themes for February are...
March 7 - the Foolish Farmer
March 13 - Two Men and Their Houses
March 20 - Man Who Said Thank You
March 28 - Simon and His Boat
Dear Parents,
Thank you all for such a wonderful night out with our fellow teachers at Good Shepherd. The dinner for teacher appreciation was delicious. The restaurant, Via Roma, was perfect. The private dining room was great. The gift cards were so generous and such a nice surprise. We all also loved the key fob we received along with the nice note. Wow, we were all so appreciative!
We are so lucky to have our wonderful parents st Good Shepherd. We certainly appreciate you and know how lucky we are to have you in our school. Thanks again for such a wonderful dinner and thank you for sharing your children with us every day!! Good Shepherd has the best parents ever!
