We've got a great Spring Break lineup of activities for you and your family.

On top of that, we have a hefty month of our normal programming, AND some new additions for adults you'll want to check out!

Saturday, March 2, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Kids and caregivers come join us as we celebrate and honor the birthday of Dr. Seuss! There will be a short storytime, cupcake decorating, and a raffle every 20 minutes!

March 11

  • Music & Movement: Singing, instrument, and dance activity for all ages at 10:30 AM.
  • Video Game Day: Gamester’s Paradise (Ages 8+, outside on plaza) and Super Smash Bros. Tournament (Ages 8+, inside library) will be 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM.


March 12

  • Storytime and Craft: Featured read: “The Hugely Wugely Spider” by Ethan T. Berlin at 10:30 AM, all ages.
  • Family Bingo: 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM, all ages.


March 13

  • Children’s performer, Brett Roberts and his “The Incredible Bubble Show”
    AT MAUDE COBB ACTIVITY CENTER. Begins at 10:30 AM, all ages.


March 14

  • Movie Day. There will be 2 showings of “Wreck-It-Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet.”
    First showing, 10:30 AM. Second showing, 2:00 PM. Free popcorn.
  • Family Game Night: Families drop in between 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM to play various board games provided for your enjoyment.


March 15

  • Library After Hours: Teens ages 13-18. Come for an evening of pizza, games, and activities after the library is closed! 6:00 PM - 12:00 AM


March 16

  • Lego-A-Thon: All ages, come build any Lego you can think of in this free-for-all build. A Lego set will be raffled off every hour during this event! 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Thursday, March 7, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

If you’re a fan of true crime stories, mysteries, and thrillers, then True Crime Crew is definitely for you!
This group will meet quarterly and discuss various aspects of popular true crime cases and occurences. The first topic reviewed will be Ted Bundy, and the Ted Bundy murders. Please feel free to bring any research, books, or related materials for discussion. For more information, contact Josh or Christian at (903) 237-1351. Ages 18+ due to sensitive nature of topics. 

Thursday, March 7, 6:30 PM

Teens come join us the first Thursday of every month at 6:30 PM to exchange book & movie recommendations, enjoy free snacks with fellow teens, and hear what's happening at the Library & in the community!

Tuesday, March 12, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Back by popular demand; join us for a Spring Break Salsa Dancing Night just for adults!
This is a beginner’s class that will teach you the basic steps of Salsa dancing. So, take the plunge and come learn a new skill!
Come solo, come with a partner, either way, you’ll have a fun, hands on time dancing the evening away with your instructors: Kevin and Bianca!

Friday, March 29, 10:30 AM

For ages 1-4. Space is limited.
Join Jade Killingsworth as she introduces your little one to the world of movement and dance. This session is designed to help your child strengthen gross motor skills, improve social and creative intelligence, increase listening ability and concentration and so much more; all while setting a foundation for the love of ballet! This class will be taught through the use of props, imagination and FUN!

March 12, 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM
  • Computer & Keyboarding Basics: An introductory class for those who have never used a computer before. Keyboarding (proper typing) also emphasized.
March 13 & 14, 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM
  • Word Basics I & II: Introductory course into Microsoft Word that focuses on how to create, format, and use the tools needed to create a word document.
March 19 & 20, 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM
  • Basic Excel I & II: Introductory course into Microsoft Excel that focuses on database entry and formula input to make spreadsheets and workbooks.
March 21, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Word Advanced: Advanced practices in word processing using Microsoft Word. Emphasis on things like inserting images, tables, columns, and introduction to bibliography/formatting papers properly.

  • Internet Basics: Learn how to navigate and browse the internet. Plus, learn how to access various website services (such as setting up an email account).
CHAUTAUQUA FESTIVAL 2019 IS COMING
  • On Saturday, April 13, we will hold our annual Chautauqua Festival here at the library. Vendors can already sign up for booth space by going to Eventbrite.com and entering "Chautauqua Festival 2019 Longview" in the search options to reach the event page. There, you can register and pay. Vendor space is $20.00, you will provide your own table and set up. A tent and sun protection is recommended. But, we recommend that you prepare for various weather elements! Please call to request a space with an electric outlet.
    You may also come into the library to pay/register. Please call (903) 237-1351 and speak with Bronwyn or Jennifer for more inquiries.

NOW SEEKING SUMMER YOUTH INTERNS
  • Youths ages 13-18, interested in helping out the youth department as summer interns can fill out an application to be considered! Slots are limited, and applications are due by April 30. Stop by the youth services desk, or call (903) 237-1345 to speak with Mackenzie or Jenna for more information.
