GatewayJFK (formerly known as the JFK IBID) is where logistics and cargo, hotel, food service, retail, other industries, and a lively community, call home. We are a Business Improvement District in Southeast Queens that is home to over 600 businesses and 150 single family households. Our mission is to create a space in New York where the air cargo businesses can expand, thrive and be a good neighbor.

Take our Traffic Study Survey!

In January, GatewayJFK began working with the engineering firm Philip Habib & Associates (PHA) on Phase 1 in the development of a comprehensive transportation plan. Now PHA is conducting a survey to gather input from people who live, work, and own a business in the area. There are three separate surveys for people who manage a business, work, and/or live in Springfield Gardens/GatewayJFK area.

If you manage a business you can take the survey here.

If you work in the area you can take the survey here.

If you live in the area you can take the survey here.

The plan will look at all of the ways our businesses, employees and residents use the local streets and it will make recommendations on ways we can improve mobility, help traffic congestion, improve safety for pedestrians and vehicular traffic, find solutions to truck circulation and overnight parking, and improve employee and residential parking.

Help GatewayJFK Fight Illegal Dumping

GatewayJFK is working with local business owners, residents, DSNY, and the NYPD to stop illegal dumping in the area.

GatewayJFK is working to make sure that garbage is removed from the street quickly and in a way that will have as little impact on business as possible and we are working with local businesses to secure video footage of dumping activities that will allow local authorities to pursue enforcement.

Recently GatewayJFK identified individuals engaged in multiple acts of  illegal dumping on weekend evenings in the District. If you have any information about the individual pictured above, please contact us.

If you experience illegal dumping near your business or home, or if you have any information related to illegal dumping in the area  please contact Scott Grimm-Lyon the Executive Director of GatewayJFK at 516-730-3400 or by email at scott@gatewayjfk.org.

GatewayJFK Tours New TWA Hotel

In February 6, 2019 GatewayJFK's 2nd Vice President R.S. Hall, and Executive Director Scott Grimm-Lyon, were led on a hard hat tour of the TWA Terminal Hotel redevelopment.

Andrew Gala, the Director of Sales for TWA led the tour of the development and showed how the site will include 512 guestrooms (kept quiet with some of the thickest glass in the wold), 50,000 square feet of meeting and event space (that can host up to 1,600 people), 6 restaurants with 8 bars (all accessible without going through security) and views of JFK’s runways from a 10,000-square-foot rooftop observation deck.

Originally built for Trans World Airlines the terminal was commissioned by Howard Huges and designed by Architect Eero Saarinen. The terminal opened in 1962 and closed when TWA went out of business in 1990. Now, 30 years later it's about to be restored and redeveloped at a cost of $265 million.
