YMIM hosts and teaches at two prominent national conferences!

Youth workers from ten states traveled to Montreat, North Carolina, for the Youth Ministry Academy in Montreat three-day conference, hosted by YMIM, in January 2019. Photos of our featured speakers are shown below.

Will you be at the NEXT Church national gathering in Seattle? Matt Vaughan will again represent YMIM by teaching a workshop at this church conference on March 11, 2019.
Photos: Matt Vaughan introduced the YMA theme each day. Rev. Michelle Thomas-Bush from Myers Park Presbyterian Church (Charlotte, NC) served as keynoter. Rev. Corey Jones from St. Luke's United Methodist Church (Orlando, FL) served as preacher. Blaine and Christina Russell from Fletcher UMC (Asheville, NC) led music. Thanks to Montreat Conference Center and Union Presbyterian Seminary for serving as generous partners!
Thank you for connecting and supporting YMIM!

Youth Ministry Institute Midwest is a nonprofit organization supporting local churches. Our goal is to share the love and grace of Jesus Christ with young people through skilled and effective leadership. A synopsis of our ministry programs is featured below.

And, let's meet up if you're in Seattle at the NEXT Church conference! My workshop on March 11 is called Inviting the Next Generation to Ministry and we'll discuss the topic of vocation in youth ministry. We'll ask, "why do young people respond to a call to ministry?"

YMIM offers consulting solutions to help your ministry grow!

Inevitably, every youth ministry gets stuck, requiring "disruptive innovation" to grow, engage parents and families, deepen discipleship, partner with children's ministries, and solve staffing dilemmas. Does this sound like your ministry setting?

A group of Duke Divinity School professors recently published a study that analyzed effective youth ministry. The authors said, "Youth ministries become laboratories for innovation" (Duke 2014). They continued by saying, "the future of mainline Protestant witness will depend on whether we can incorporate disruptive innovation into our identity for the sake of ongoing faithful Christian witness" (Duke 2014). Notably, Youth Ministry Institute (YMI) is mentioned in the article as a solution.

One of the best parts of my job is meeting pastors and youth workers throughout the Midwest. I observe the best youth ministry programs in the area – I learn from them and share the results with our partner churches. I'd love to learn more about your church.

And, perhaps your church could use some help. Consider partnering with YMIM.

YMIM provides a full range of ministry and staffing consulting services.
YMIM has a fabulous consulting and coaching staff to help you.
YMIM is local and remains engaged at no additional cost.
YMIM is affordable as a nonprofit organization.

We offer one-day and multi-day consulting visits, comprehensive research data, personalized coaching, and relevant training. An evening with one of our experts starts at just $300 and scales up to a detailed, published report of your ministry with a timeline of recommendations to grow, innovate, and enhance discipleship for your youth.

62 churches have engaged YMIM for on-site consulting, staff and clergy coaching, mission studies, and extended education and training. Contact any of these partners to learn how YMIM supports local churches, clergy, staff, the Session, and congregational members.

Need a recap? What does YMIM do???

I lead in this way: Youth Ministry Institute Midwest – YMIM – was formed to help youth ministers/workers and local churches beat the odds in youth ministry.
  • Only 17% of youth ministers/workers have any formal training for their ministry.
  • Only 30% of youth staff stay in their job for more than two years.
YMIM provides support for local churches and youth ministers / leaders that results in substantially longer staff tenures and growth in ministry. Every client in our Cohort Learning program saw strong growth in youth ministry attendance the last two years.

Our Cohort Learning program deadline coincides with monthly retreats. New students are invited to try out our program! Our cohort is enrolled from Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri, with a strong list of others in the region who are interested in the program.
  • 80% of youth ministers/workers who complete our cohort learning program stay in their jobs for five years or more
  • Nearly all youth ministers/workers who complete our cohort learning program double the size of their youth group... and some triple their groups!
We also provide a full consulting and coaching services to help grow your youth group and develop excellence in leadership. Satisfaction is high with rates that are half of the competing for-profit groups. We'll help make your job easier and more effective!

And, please let me know if you have a suggestion of a church, pastor, or youth leader whom I should meet. Thank you!  – Matt Vaughan
