Volunteers Required!
Lots more volunteers needed for races this weekend
While we encourage all parents to come out and cheer for all of our racers, we also need volunteers to be able to safely and effectively run these races.  Please remember that we cannot run races without volunteers and are required to have a minimum number of volunteers on the course not only for safety, but to run a successful event. You don't have to have an athlete in the race to volunteer.  In fact, you may prefer to volunteer for a race where your athlete is not participating, so you can then watch your athlete's race.

We need the following number of volunteers for this weekend's Club Championship Races:

U8/U10 - 8 volunteers

U12 - 5 volunteers

U14/U16 - 7 volunteers

U19/FIS/Masters - 12 volunteers

Please do your part and volunteer here.

Freestyle Team News
Thanks for a Great Season!

Thanks to the support of Jozo Weider Racing, the new JW Freestyle team had a great first season!

With more than 20 athletes spanning both snowboarding and freestyle skiing, it was a fabulous season of learning and competing. Head coach Anna Gerol, encouraged the athletes to give competition a try and many participated in the GROMS Interclub series to great success! A few also came out for the Blue Mountain Friday Night Lights - Rail Jams.

As the official season for the Jozo Weider Freestyle team comes to a close, the athletes and their families would like to extend a BIG thank you to all the coaches for their encouragement, training and fun they provided to all the athletes; to Anna and Abby for their support and great communication as well as the Jozo Weider Volunteer Committee for including the Freestyle team.

Cheers, until next season!
24 Hour Relay
Jozo Team Brings home the Hardware!

Thanks to Team Captain Stefano Mastracci and our team of Jozo Parents, we have raised $6,265 so far and completed a total of 245 laps down Smart Alec in 24 hours!

We managed to beat the Beaver Valley Ski Club team to
take home the inaugural Cowan Cup trophy!

Donations can still be made to our Jozo Weider Ski team
here. All proceeds go to support the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital and Special Olympics Ontario!

Thank you to all who participated and supported us!  Your donations are greatly appreciated!

Athlete Profile
Zoe King
Zoe King started racing at Jozo when she was 5 and her very first coach was none other than Anna Gerol (who had her team carving that first year). While others moved on to coaching, Zoe and teammates Kathryn Lihou & Paige Villeneuve decided it was time for Jozo to have a U19 team once again so they could keep racing.

Last year they were fortunate enough to be able to participate in the Ontario Winter Games where Zoe came in 3rd in Slalom and 1st in Ski Cross. She discovered she loved Ski Cross and placed 3rd in the Provincials.

In addition to skiing, Zoe has played a number of sports including hockey, baseball, soccer and lacrosse. Whatever the sport, she is ‘all business’ and is seriously competitive. There were hours spent practicing certain moves and stick skills for lacrosse and hockey. Zoe would often be found playing road hockey with friends or shinny at the local rink.

While skiing is her favourite winter sport, lacrosse is her favorite summer sport. She started playing Box Lacrosse with the boys team when she was 6 because there weren’t any other options at the time. When she was 10 her club started a Girls Field Lacrosse team and she’s never looked back. She led Ontario in scoring in her first year and was team MVP for her club team as well as her high school team.  She played for Team Ontario in 2015 and in 2017 was offered an athletic scholarship to Kennesaw State University in Georgia to play on their Women’s lacrosse team. She will be starting in the fall of 2019.
Blue Mountain Corner

Blue Mountain will be hosting Club Championships this Saturday March 2, 2019 for ALL 2 Day athletes. Club Champs will be taking place on Smart Alec (GS), and is set to begin at 9:30am. As we have many racers to get through, please be punctual.

Blue Mountain will not be running a March Break Race Camp this season, as there was not enough interest with all the invitational races happening that same week. Instead, we will be hosting daily training from Saturday March 9 – Tuesday March 12, 2019 for all our athletes competing in invitational races throughout March. Please register through our Race Admin, Abby Gallagher at ext 52808 or at abgallagher@bluemountain.ca.

Blue Mountain will be running a Freestyle Ski and Snowboard March Break Camp. This camp will run 9:30am-3:30pm from March 11-15, 2019. Pick up and drop off will happen at the Blue Mountain Inn. Again, please contact Abby Gallagher if you are interested in registering.

Blue Mountain is hosting both 1 Day Banquets on Saturday March 2, 2019 and Sunday March 3, 2019 1:30pm-3pm in the Petun Room at the Village Conference Centre. Snacks and Drinks will be provided. All 1 Day athletes and parents are encouraged to attend.

As a reminder, there are quite a few invitational races left for the season. As there are limited spots available, please contact our Race Admins if your athlete is interested in competing.
