High School & Beyond Night

Tomorrow night, Thu, Mar 7 at Eagle Staff!

Join us to learn more about how to prepare for high school and beyond! After pizza and donuts, hear from high school counselors and students, the SPS Skills Center, and more! There will be time for questions.

Spring Break Trip 2020

As many of you know, we host an annual east coast history trip for the 8th graders during spring break. For April, 2020 we will be going to Washington DC, Philadelphia, and New York!  We will be hosting a trip informational meeting for all current 7th grade families on Thu, Mar 21 at 6:30 pm in the commons. The trip is limited to the 1st 40 students and parent/chaperones who register and we expect the trip to sell out fast! You do not need to attend the meeting in order to register. Read the flyer.

Math Night

Students and families are invited to come to family math night at school. There will be games, activities, prizes, a Pi walk, and yummy food! Thu, Mar 14, 7 pm in the commons.

Marvel Movie Nights at RESMS

RESMS Movie Nights logoThere are just four movie nights left at RESMS. Parents and guardians, drop off your kids and take a night off!

Open to all RESMS students and their families. Admission is $5 each. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Movies start at 7 pm. Concessions will be available for $1–3.

Parents Night Out

Mon, Apr 1, starting at 7:30 pm at St. Andrews Pub Annex (7406 Aurora Ave. N)

Join RESMS parents for a fun night of April Fools trivia. Melissa Westbrook will write the questions. RESMS parent and KUOW reporter, Patricia Murphy, will be our host. We'll have fun prizes and participation is free. We hope you can join us!

8th Grade Promotion Volunteers Needed

We're looking for 6th and 7th grade parents to join the 8th grade promotion committee! Pay it forward by ensuring that this year's 8th graders have an evening to remember at the end of June. We have all the notes and experience from last year so it will be a fun and rewarding volunteer opportunity, in partnership with 8th grade staff members. Kick-off meeting is Mon, Mar 25 at 4 pm in the front office. Email volunteer@eaglestaffptsa.org if you can help!

LIKE Documentary

RESMS PTSA is proud to host the original documentary LIKE about the effects of technology and social media on the brain, our lives, and our civilization. Join us on Wed, Mar 20 in the RESMS commons. Doors open at 6:30 pm with the film showing at 7 pm.

Earlier in the week, all RESMS students will view the film during one of their class periods. Parents and students are encouraged to join us in the evening to be better informed and further the conversation.

Ultimate Frisbee

  • First games are this Sat, Mar 9. Come and cheer on your Ravens. Check the schedule and locations.
  • We have space for a few more girls on our 6th grade teams. No experience required! Come on out and give it a try.
  • Eagle Staff ultimate frisbee camp registration is now open. Camp runs Jul 29–Aug 2 on the RESMS field. All skill levels welcome. Register for ultimate frisbee camp.

Ski Bus

The final ski bus run of the season is this Fri, Mar 8.

Spring Sports

Registration for all-gender track, girls volleyball, and boys soccer are now available in the main office and are due tomorrow, Thu, Mar 7. Please make sure your student's sports physical is up to date prior to turning in your packet.

Due to district field lighting work, The RESMS field will not be available until the week of Mar 18. See below for details about your sport.

Soccer: Tentatively Mar 18 & 21. We are looking into an offsite location for the previous week. Please stay tuned for more information.

Volleyball: Tryouts Mar 11 & 14, 4–5:45 pm There will be an informational meeting for girls volleyball today, Wed, Mar 6 in rm 210 during all three lunches.

Track: First practices are Mar 19 & 22 (track is no cut, so these are practice days not tryouts). Read the flyer for more information. We do need volunteers to help coordinate time trials. No experience necessary. Contact Coach Erin Philbeck if you can volunteer.

Riveted Kids Travel Camps

Riveted Kids provides transformative teen travel camps that plant the seeds for global citizenship. Each camp is a curated, small-group experience to connect teens directly to trusted locals, hands-on activities, and culture. Based in Seattle, led by experienced guides. 2019 camps in Peru and Mexico.

Parent University

Sat, Apr 27,  8:30 am to 2:30 pm at The Bush School (3400 E Harrison St, Seattle).

Parent University is a half-day event featuring insights from experts in the field of childhood and adolescent development.  This year’s keynote speaker is New York Times best-selling author Julie Lythcott-Haims who will talk about her book, How to Raise an Adult. The closing speaker will be Dr. John Medina, author of the Brain Rules series. In between there will be a choice of sessions covering a range of parenting topics.

This community event offers learning for parents and guardians of K-12 students. Childcare is available for kindergarten- 5th grade children only. Space is limited, so reserve your childcare spot during registration.

Cost is $30 and includes a light breakfast and boxed lunch.

Adolesco Youth Exchange

Applications due May 15.

We offer a two-way exchange program that gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in a new language and new culture and to host your carefully matched exchange partner in turn. At Adolesco Youth Exchange we will match you with a student about your own age in France, Germany, Italy, or Spain (your choice), you will decide when (whatever’s best for your schedule), and for how long (between 6 to 12 weeks) you want to go on exchange (and then to host) as part of our flexible and affordable nonprofit language immersion and cultural exchange program for qualifying students between ages 9 and 18.

Cascades Academy Ultimate Clinic

Cascades Academy is a 2.5-hour clinic taught by a rotating cast of elite players from Seattle Cascades men's and women's teams, Seattle Riot, Seattle Underground, and UW's Sundodgers. Available to students grades 3–8, all abilities and genders. Allergy sensitive snacks provided. Cleats are available for sharing. Scholarships for anyone who needs one.

Sat, Mar 10, 9:30 am–noon at lower Woodland #7 . Register at the Cascades Academy website.

Clinics are $35, or $50 includes a jersey, shorts, or a disc.

UW Summer Enrichment

Registration is now open for summer youth programs at the University of Washington! Middle school offerings include a variety of arts/humanities and STEM-related classes including coding, engineering design, creative writing, visual arts, and more. Read detailed information including dates, times, and fees.

Little Shop of Horrors at BHS

The Ballard High School Playmakers are preparing to stage the fun, sci-fi, comedy musical Little Shop of Horrors. Performances Mar 14, 15, 16, and 21, 22, 23 at the Earl Kelly Center for Performing Arts at Ballard High School (1418 NW 65th St.). Shows start at 7:30 pm. Order reserved seating tickets online. $15 for adults, $10 for students/seniors.

Lincoln Marching Band Needs Your Support

Marching band is a big part of the high school music experience! Students participating in Lincoln's marching band will be sitting across the field from Roosevelt HS, Ballard HS, and other well-established schools, and we want to help them to feel the kind of school pride that comes when you are talented and well-appointed. Please donate to our fund so that we can purchase marching band uniforms in time for this fall's season. We can "band together" to raise the school banner with Lincoln Lynx pride!
