POLITICS: Today, Michael Cohen - aka Trump’s former lawyer - will testify before the House oversight committee. Expect to hear him allege that the Prez knew Roger Stone was chatting with WikiLeaks about the Democratic National Committee leak. Plus call Trump a “racist,” “conman,” and “cheat” - and allege that Trump knew about that Trump Tower meeting with a Russian lawyer. Stay tuned. Meanwhile, yesterday, the House of Reps passed a resolution to stop Trump’s national emergency declaration. Now, it’s up to the Senate to make things official. And in other news, the House is subpoenaing the Trump team over family separations at the US-Mexico border. Unclear what they’re looking to find out.
WORLD: Everyone is talking about Brexit. Recently, it came out that Prime Minister Theresa May is working on a new deal for the UK to ditch the European Union. Parliament’s expected to vote on the deal in March - plus vote on whether to delay Brexit or just leave the UK without a deal at all. This comes as the deadline for the UK to divorce the EU is almost up. Breath, bated. Speaking of which, Pakistan says it shot down “two Indian jets” flying over Kashmir. Quick refresher: for years, Pakistan and India have been fighting over Kashmir. This latest attack comes just a day after India reportedly killed a “ large number” of people at a military training camp.
USA: Yesterday, a new report came out saying that majority-white school districts received $23 billion (yes, with a b) more in funding than majority-nonwhite school districts back in 2016 - even though both groups had around the same number of students. Not good. In other news, yesterday, United Methodists voted to keep same-sex marriage illegal. Now, churches and clergy could face removal from the denomination if they don’t publicly agree that gay marriage is wrong by 2021. Meanwhile, AT&T is pulling out the streamers. Recently, a federal judge ruled that the biz can merge with Time Warner - coming after the Justice Dept disagreed.
