March means that it is time for our annual bookmark contest! The theme this year is "A Universe of Stories". The guidelines and templates are available at the library. All entries are due by March 23rd at 5pm. Voting will begin on Monday, March 25th. The top 3 bookmarks will become our bookmarks for the year.
We have gotten several questions about this year's Friends of the Library Book Sale. It has been scheduled for the weekend of April 5th. Members of the Friends of the Library are able to shop the book sale early on the evening Friday, April 5th. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Friends of the Library and assisting with setup, let us know and we can get you started.
We are hopeful that we will be able to plant our gardens soon, but in the meantime, we can start planning for them. Our March Master Gardener's program will help us do just that. March's program is about Attracting Monarchs to Your Garden presented by Patti Davis on Tuesday, March 5 at 4PM. We will discuss plants that help bring more butterflies to your yard.
Our Toddler Time is on March 2nd at 10:30am. Miss Emily has some squishy fun planned. We will be be doing some digging in jello, playing with play-do, and discovering what happens when we play with water beads. This is sure to be a fun program for babies up to 3-years. One of the best ways for children to learn is by watching the grownups around them, so grownups are highly encouraged to fully participate with their child.
Our next Paint & Sip Fundraiser is scheduled for Friday, March 8th. Doors open at 6pm and painting begins at 6:30pm. The Friends of the Library hold these fundraisers to help support the Reading Program events and prizes, Kids Create, and other special events throughout the year. We hope you will join in the fun as we create a fun painting (see above). The Friends will provide snacks for the evening and you can BYOB. Family Storytime is on Saturday, March 9th at 10:30am this month and will include some March Madness. Join Miss Debbie for some singing, dancing, stories, and other fun basketball inspired activities.
We are excited to begin another new Saturday program called STEAM Saturday on March 16th at 10:30am. Miss Emily will be leading the group in making SLIME. Register soon to reserve your spot in this fun program by clicking on the image about the program below.
Our monthly Lego Club is on Wednesday, March 27. Join us on the last Wednesday of each month at 4pm to have fun with friends. We have the Legos, idea books, and the space. Legos are a wonderful way to excite children about problem solving and innovative thinking. We will have some fun Lego building challenges as well as tables for freestyle building.
