ASTROLOGY of the DAY

Wednesday • 27 Feb 2019

For a brief moment, everything seems to make perfect sense. Morning brings a waft of good luck as the Moon conjuncts Jupiter and we should feel more confident and ready to move forward as the Sun sextiles Mars. Take this moment of optimism to open up possibilities, but watch a tendency to spend or promise too much. This is a good time to reach out to distant contacts, scan world news and get a bigger perspective.

A burst of energy arrives as a competent Sun-Mars sextile at 6.33p. Sun-Mars is high octane energy and will give you enough energy to accomplish anything you set your mind to, and since this aspect is a sextile, you will find it easy to get other people to assist in your cause. This aspect opens the door to opportunities and positive connections on Wednesday throughout the day and night.

The Moon’s conjunction with beneficent Jupiter entices us into seeing the beauty in each dilemma and the best in everyone we meet. We’re acutely aware of potential problems, even if we choose to ignore them. Double-check the details this afternoon as the Moon squares trickster Mercury at 5.10p. The Sagittarius Moon sweeps through a square between Mercury in Pisces and the Galactic Core in late Sadge. You may feel a need to recalibrate your thoughts, emotions and beliefs to bring them into greater alignment, and chances are this will come via talking about them to someone you're close to. There's an excellent atmosphere for social plans tonight.

Today's Sun-Nessus conjunction in Pisces is a reminder to notice how you're handling your boundaries. This includes both what you're letting in, and also what you might be broadcasting to others.

... more about today ...

We might find our minds drift or the details of our life clutter up. Mercury turns retrograde 5 ~ 28 March and will back up over this point where it is now before it turns direct. It’s a good week to get as many pieces as possible battened down and dealt with before Mercury retrogrades next week. So, clear the decks, pay the bills get the proposal in.

Monday starts out heavy and thoughtful, but the energy picks up as Moon enters Sagittarius midday, and now the week begins. The week ends on competent note, we just need to pace ourselves and track our work carefully.

Relationships – either past or present, or both – enter our awareness this week, courtesy of activity involving the planet Venus.

As Venus dances with Pluto and Saturn she may give us a peek into the big stories of the next few years, because Pluto and Saturn conjunct just in time for the next election. Whenever these two come together, approximately every 32 years, we notice a breakdown of an old system and a desire for a new system

In a subtle but profound, and quite hopeful long-term astrological shift, Chiron, the asteroid we associate with healing, entered revolutionary Aries on 18 February for the next eight years. 1968 to 1976 was the last time Chiron was in Aries, a time of great cultural and political change. Let’s get ready to direct political and social discontent into healing change in the years ahead.

FEBRUARY
(including Wow & Whoa days)

You can expect some new developments around your home or office this month. All planets are in direct motion increasing the flow of positive energy and reducing the tendency for small delays to get in your way. The month of February will be an uplifting one through which we may keep moving ahead full of confidence. With no planets going retrograde, this is going to fuel the momentum and keep people motivated and on track. Get ready for a vision quest in February. You're longing to express the part of yourself that sets you apart from others. In fact, knowing that you are meant to stand out rather than fit in will be the secret sauce to your success potential for the first half of the month. Aquarius may be the coolest sign of the zodiac, but things are heating up, especially with Venus conjunct three points in the sign of Capricorn – planets which indicate romance and sex.

We have Venus, Saturn and Pluto all in dependable and conservative Capricorn in February. Earth signs have common sense and a good ability to appraise the value of a person or item. This is a good month to buy a new car or other important purchase and especially if you use one of the Wow days to finalise the deal.

Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto are all moving into new territory in February which helps spark new situations and opportunities to expand your field of operations and to open doors to new sources of profit and success. It’s unusual that all three advance at the same time. So this is a very good month to put plans into action that have been gestating or delayed for some reason.

Innovative Uranus is now rocking along again in eager Aries, having left Taurus last November. Uranus encourages thinking that is outside the box and open to changes and new directions.

This month is going to start with a New Moon falling on February the 4th, happening in Aquarius. It is going to be a fantastic New Moon which will bring welcoming relief, particularly since the Eclipse on the 21st of January. A New Moon in Aquarius on 4 February will prompt you to take whatever steps are necessary in order to wave your personal freak flag with gusto. This phase of the Moon is holding opportunities and promise, so we will have to do our best to set intentions, get clear about what we want, without being afraid and worried to start.

Sparks will fly in our lives on 13 February as Mars and Uranus collide in a flammable Aries conjunction. This will set an area of your life on fire in the most unexpected way. Know that a major change is happening and it will be impossible to direct it. The good news is that by the 14th you'll decide whether to fan the flames or put out the fire.

Mars enters another earth sign, Taurus, on 14 February. Until 31 March you can use this energy in a way that supports you building whatever can to provide the most enduring physical legacy and security in your world.

Financial and romantic matters will become intense from 17 ~ 22 FebruaryVenus in cautious Capricorn embraces Saturn and then Pluto, making you quite strategic when it comes to your business plans. You might make a significant decision about money or love that has long-term ramifications. Whatever decision this is, it's one that you'll make only after careful consideration.

On 18 February, the Sun shifts into Pisces, the last Zodiac sign. In fact, this is going to be an indication that we need to start wrapping up lessons and themes, the ones we worked on since last year from March.

There is going to be a Super Full Moon on the 19th of February, happening in Virgo. It will be a powerful Full Moon which is going to help us realise where we are now. Also, it can make health problems surface. The month of February is definitely going to be an excellent period for focusing on self-care and self-love, so the Full Moon in Virgo is going to make sure that we do simply that.

26 February we have Venus conjunct the South Node which will bring a phase of evaluation.

JUPITER IN SAGITTARIUS

8 November 2018 ~ 3 December 2019

Jupiter, the planet of blessings and abundance, will enter her home sign of Sagittarius on 8 November for the first time in nearly 12 years. This is monumental in terms of you now having the support to achieve any and all of your pie-in-the-sky aspirations. There are no limits other than the ones you place upon yourself, and Jupiter in Sagittarius will help you erase those limitation lines like no other astrological event can. While Jupiter is in Sagittarius (8 November 2018 ~ 3 December 2019), our focus will be on self-improvement. You can be, do, and have anything you want. One of the keywords associated with Jupiter is luck, and when Jupiter transits one of your natal planets, good stuff can happen, and usually does; however, according to the mystical Kabbalah, luck is not given simply because of happenstance, luck happens because you are intuitive enough to notice opportunities and turn them into reality. In many ways, luck is our ability to leap from our secure porch of the now and have the certainty to leap into an unknown future.

URANUS IN TAURUS

15 May 2018 ~ 26 April 2026

A revolution is underway, a tearing down of old systems to allow for new and more resilient foundations to be built. We will likely see events that relate to our current experiences around 6 November 2018, and again around 6 March 2019, when Uranus again crosses the threshold between Taurus and Aries. Once every seven to eight years iconoclastic Uranus changes signs to revolutionise our lives. Uranus ingressing Taurus is all about disrupting the status quo and what has gotten stale, through new ideas, inventions and maybe even some revolutionary action. Since Taurus rules nature and is very security-minded and Uranus tends to cause instability, we would expect some natural events to manifest. We can also anticipate changes in financial matters and values in the years ahead. How we use money and what we find valuable will be revolutionised. During this transit, we must be ready and willing to change our relationship to money and materialism – we no longer have a choice. The changes we make during this period can actually help bring us to a point of greater stability, and can be very long-lasting.

CHIRON IN ARIES

18 February 2018 ~ 14 April 2027

Chiron’s sign changes often arrive with immediate shifts in the social climate and turning points in history. What may have seemed impossible in one moment of time is suddenly the thing that’s happening in another. Chiron was last in Aries from 1968-1977. Chiron moving into Aries is an eight-year phase of exposing and healing wounds related to that sign.

Chiron finally makes its first return to the sign Aries since 1977 along with the Sun having entered Pisces. As the Sun offers a unity sensibility and Chiron begins asking you to notice who you really are. You have the power to devote yourself to the healing you need, and to being the one who refuses to perpetuate the patterns that have hurt you. It may mean taking a little extra space for yourself in your life, but it's worth it. Chiron, known as the Wounded Healer, has the formidable task of both exposing and healing humanity's wounds and fears. As Chiron moves through Aries (until 2026-27), it will uncover and begin to heal wounds associated with a lack of self-confidence, with the fear that we don't have the right to be ourselves or to have what we desire, and with the tendency to revert to anger and aggression as a way of asserting ourselves. We will be uncovering old scars in these areas, and learning how to love the part of us that feels the pain of these wounds.

Ponder this ...

• What dreams, hopes, wishes need to be released in order to make space for others to grow, thrive and flourish ?
• Who, how and where do I need to collaborate, co-create and cooperate in order to manifest my visions and projects ?
• What's coming in to focus that I need to put energy toward ?
• Where am I feeling scattered ?

An individual can’t create anything itself. All of our dreams come true with the cooperation and co-creation of other souls. ~ Hina Hashmi

The fog of impossibility clears and we are able to start seeing and focusing on all the things that are possible.

Instead of pie in the sky dreams that go nowhere, this is our chance to hone in on what we really want to create, manifest, or the kind of future we want to move towards and start taking the necessary action to bring it into being rather than just a distant dream of longing.

Let’s see what needs assistance to make it happen and reach out to those who can assist us in the necessary steps or components at this time. We do ourselves a disservice by locking ourselves away in our own mind or dreams or creative process.

Collaborate, co-create, cooperate.

Perhaps there are some hopes, dreams, wishes that it is time for us to release. But this only opens the space for the even greater opportunity and possibility for those that remain to be able to fully flourish.

ASTROLOGY of the DAY

Wednesday • 27 Feb 2019

Tackle the hard jobs first thing. Wanderlust and restlessness our good for preparing for trips and travels but there is no need to run away and join the circus. Instead, reach out to distant contacts, scan world news and get a bigger perspective.

We are encouraged us to assume a leadership role when we can help the cause, or to set out on our own if our solo actions might be more effective. Do not let this boost in self-confidence and amplified energy be wasted.  Sun sextile Mars is an aspect you want to take advantage of and step closer to reaching your goals.

You may feel a need to recalibrate your thoughts, emotions and beliefs to bring them into greater alignment, and chances are this will come via talking about them to someone you're close to. There's an excellent atmosphere for social plans tonight as the Moon trines friendly Uranus at 10.17p making it a good night to reach out.

Today's Sun-Nessus conjunction in Pisces is a reminder to notice how you're handling your boundaries. This could apply most in the emotional and psychic realms, with possible emphasis on sexual energy and the ways lines might have been crossed in the past. This includes both what you're letting in, and also what you might be broadcasting to others.

ASTROLOGY of the WEEK

We might find our minds drift or the details of our life clutter up. Mercury turns retrograde 5 ~ 28 March and will back up over this point where it is now before it turns direct. Once Mercury is in this shadow field, we can feel it slowing down, turning our attention inwards, making a little harder to stay focused. We may feel unusually perceptive, but walk out to the kitchen and forget why we’re there. It’s a good week to get as many pieces as possible battened down and dealt with before Mercury retrogrades next week. So, clear the decks, pay the bills get the proposal in.

Monday starts out heavy and thoughtful, a good time to follow up on last week’s news and check in with people to see how they are. But the energy picks up as Moon enters Sagittarius midday, and now the week begins.

Whenever these two come together, approximately every 32 years, we notice a breakdown of an old system and a desire for a new system. The last time these two planets were conjunct in Capricorn (as they will this time) the sign that we associate with authority, structure, and political systems, was 1517-18, around the time Martin Luther posted his 95 theses and began a revolution against the Catholic Church. Saturn, with its ring, can represent a wall. The Berlin wall came down when Saturn conjunct dissolving Neptune in the fall of 1989. Now as Saturn approaches a conjunction to Pluto in the structural sign of Capricorn, America is in the midst of a power struggle around the potential of a wall on our southern border.

In a subtle but profound, and quite hopeful long-term astrological shift, Chiron, the asteroid we associate with healing, entered revolutionary Aries on 18 February for the next eight years. 1968 to 1976 was the last time Chiron was in Aries, a time of great cultural and political change. FEBRUARY 2019

Wow Days
4, 7, 11, 23, 27, 28
Whoa Days
13+, 17, 18+, 21, 22, 26

You can expect some new developments around your home or office this month. All planets are in direct motion increasing the flow of positive energy and reducing the tendency for small delays to get in your way. The month of February will be an uplifting one through which we may keep moving ahead full of confidence. With no planets going retrograde, this is going to fuel the momentum and keep people motivated and on track. Get ready for a vision quest in February. You're longing to express the part of yourself that sets you apart from others. In fact, knowing that you are meant to stand out rather than fit in will be the secret sauce to your success potential for the first half of the month. Mars and Pluto — the two planets of war — clash, and Mars also meets with explosive Uranus, meaning plenty of blow-ups will take place this month. Aquarius may be the coolest sign of the zodiac, but things are heating up. But it is not only Mars that is going to be part of our energy interaction – there is also Venus which is going to conjunct three points in the sign of Capricorn. These signs are related to the planets which indicate romance and sex.

We have Venus, Saturn and Pluto all in dependable and conservative Capricorn in February. Earth signs have common sense and a good ability to appraise the value of a person or item. This is a good month to buy a new car or other important purchase and especially if you use one of the Wow days to finalise the deal.

Innovative Uranus is now rocking along again in eager Aries, having left Taurus last November. Uranus encourages thinking that is outside the box and open to changes and new directions.

At the start of February, we have Mars squaring Pluto. This alignment will increase your chances of pursuing a date in a very predatory-like fashion. Plus, when Mars squares Pluto, it tends to combine the effects of power and sex as the dynamism present in these planets will have a dominating effect on such a relationship. On the positive side, it will bless you with the courage of someone who has survived a lot. But it can also make you a bully. Since this will turn up sexual passion a notch, you can experience a form of sexual voraciousness. So, there are chances of stalkers coming out into the open and trying to contact you. However, since Venus is going to trine Uranus, it will also bring a boost to romance and love. While this trine will be an amazing on 2 February, it is also one of the last ones and will happen again after seven years. So, it’s time for farewells, even if you don’t want to. It’s time for new beginnings.

Mars will conjunct Eris on 3 February and this will be a time when a spurned lover may come back into your life with a rage. If Eris is exiled or wronged in some way, then they get furious. And with the war-like Mars coming in conjunct, they will have their narcissistic rage on high, especially, if you have successfully kept yourself stable during the alignment of Mars squaring Pluto.

This month starts off in the aftermath of a powerful Lunar Eclipse, and this is followed by an extremely potent New Moon that takes place on the first Monday of February, at 15 plus degrees of Aquarius. This New Moon fixed-sign energy is flanked on either side by Neptune at 15 plus degrees of Pisces and Saturn at 15 plus degrees of Capricorn. These two outer planets, each in their own sign, bring the numinous and otherworldly energy of Neptune down to the hard-knocks reality of Saturn. This implies recognising the fundamental truth that we are, in essence, spirits, living in the material world, and that we also must be willing to take our physical 3D presence here quite seriously as worth inhabiting to the fullest. We can do this by striving to create an amalgam of Spirit and matter as we go about our daily tasks and prepare to fulfill our future goals.

A New Moon in Aquarius on 4 February will prompt you to take whatever steps are necessary in order to wave your personal freak flag with gusto. The New Moon will definitely be the most powerful one of this year, being full of abundance and optimism. People will definitely feel their spirits lifted or more hopeful when it comes what the future holds. This phase of the Moon is holding opportunities and promise, so we will have to do our best to set intentions, get clear about what we want, without being afraid and worried to start. The Aquarius New Moon also brings all the outer planet energies into play, including Saturn. It is important to note that Saturn is precisely parallel to Pluto, a factor of connection between them that gets stronger as the month continues to unfold, and that stays active until early summer. With Uranus also triggered by the recent Lunar Eclipse, and by the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, and Chiron in the 4 February New Moon, we have a full complement of outer planet energy on board with us this month. And this presages continuing massive structural transformation for our society, and also for ourselves.

Thanks to this lunation making a supportive link to expansive Jupiter in Sagittarius, it's possible that a spiritual awakening or unusual metaphysical experience will help support your journey toward becoming the most advanced version of yourself possible. In order to achieve something you've never had, you must do something you've never done before. In February you will take this to heart and embrace whatever new path supports your individuality the most. This New Moon will be a highly powerful and innovative one, so people can feel encouraged and motivated to step out of their zones of comfort.

In this intensely powerful New Moon configuration, the other mighty emphasis on Pluto is represented by the highlighted square from  Eris to Pluto. This narrows to less than a degree by the timing of the Virgo Full Moon of February 19th. Considering for a moment just the Eris-Pluto square, this is also a Mars-Pluto square, because Mars occupies the same degree in Aries as  Eris, greatly enhancing this entire interaction. The message of prominent Eris is that each one of us must consider where our deepest values lie, and proceed to act from this standpoint, and from this standpoint alone, ignoring other voices of illusion and distraction that might threaten to throw us off course. And, with Pluto and Uranus both so greatly highlighted, this reminds us that the Uranus-Pluto square alignment that so aptly characterises this decade remains active, right through to the potent configurations of 2020. We are still struggling to understand the massive ongoing structural transformation of the society in which we have our being, and as well our own part in this great shift. We, too, will find that there is something that we will have to give up, some part of our life that no longer serves us, as we head – over these next twelve months or more – into our next major phase.

On 9 February, the Sun will conjunct Lilith. This will feel like your ego is being taken away from a cultural system just like Lilith was. As a consequence, you will find authoritative figures trying to control you. As Lilith moves closer to the Sun, it will get shadowed. You will have your opinion of how the world is working, but people will not appreciate it. Slowly, you might feel like an outcast. But it is just for a short time, so don’t get depressed and start going down destructive paths like alcoholism or taking drugs to sooth the agony of being an outcast.

Sparks will fly in our lives on 13 February as Mars and Uranus collide in a flammable Aries conjunction. This will set an area of your life on fire in the most unexpected way. It could be exciting, but it might also be damaging, like a forest fire that spreads like lightning. Mars conjunct Uranus can bring a lot of confusion in relations or sexuality. Maybe, someone will reveal an affair or they might become aware and confess that they have chosen the wrong partner and break it off. Since sexuality is a theme during this alignment, someone might find themselves developing a soft corner for a person of the same sex or they might get confused about what their gender is.  A famous person may come out with their sexuality as well. Know that a major change is happening and it will be impossible to direct it. The good news is that by the 14th you'll decide whether to fan the flames or put out the fire.

Mars enters another earth sign, Taurus, on 14 February. Mars entering Taurus will help slow down your actions considerably, making them go from a hare's pace to one of the tortoise. Until 31 March you can use this energy in a way that supports you building whatever can to provide the most enduring physical legacy and security in your world.

Financial and romantic matters will become intense from 17 ~ 22 February17 February Venus creates a sextile with Neptune which will result in a poetic and a romantic start, almost like a novel. Venus in cautious Capricorn embraces Saturn and then Pluto, making you quite strategic when it comes to your business plans. You might make a significant decision about money or love that has long-term ramifications. Whatever decision this is, it's one that you'll make only after careful consideration. 18 February will see Venus conjunct Saturn and make it all seem like a fantasy. As Venus conjuncts Pluto on 22 February the romance can explode and can end up being physical.

There will be an event which is considered the most important and notable one of this year occurring on 18 February when Chiron is going to move into the sign of Aries. In fact, this is an enormous shift which will open new cycles of awakening and changes for everyone. With Chiron also highlighted this month, just as he returns to Aries, we also might expect issues of early wounding to come to the fore, perhaps exacerbated by a form of future shock, as we contemplate the situation of our culture, and of our planet, virtually headed over a cliff. The good news is that once you can see that the universe always has your ultimate progress in mind, action is far easier to take for exploring your own deep and hidden places within your psyche. The committed desire to do so is half the battle, and this intention, if carried to its logical conclusion, will allow you to more fully accept yourself, warts and all, as you make your way into the uncertain outcome that lies ahead. You win when you have faith in yourself, and in your process, and in your resolution to keep on forging onward, no matter what.

Also on 18 February, the Sun shifts into Pisces, the last Zodiac sign.

For those that were not looking after their needs, the Full Moon can bring them a wake-up call, and they have to pay more attention to those clues and signs of our Universe and take the needed rest. A Full Moon in discerning Virgo on 19 February will help you let go of whatever approach in your life is counterproductive to you becoming the best version of yourself. Any hard habits to break will melt away under this energy. You'll have no trouble releasing what you know is an unrealistic perspective in order to finally produce the results you've been looking for all along.

This Full Moon also features the Sun and Moon in aspect with the awakening and trickster energy of Uranus, and also in aspect with Chiron, the Wounded Healer, newly in Aries. This makes the last ten days of the month both exciting and also, to some extent, filled with angst and awareness of our internal wounding.

26 February we have Venus conjunct the South Node which will bring a phase of evaluation. You will start looking at your romantic life and wonder if karma had a role to play in it or whether it was something that was decided in your past life. During this phase, you will get an idea of the style in which the romance in your life is being set up. How the planet Mars conjuncts with Venus at Aries will also decide on your love life during this time. For example, wedding bells may ring in the seventh house, the eighth house can indicate dark and gothic style romance, the tenth house can indicate a small office fling.

The Eris-Uranus midpoint remains in close opposition to Haumea – earth goddess of fecundity and protean flexibility, and profound connection with Nature – now at the 26-degree mark of Libra, until mid-April. We may therefore expect further emphasis on earth issues, and on the fight to save the planet from catastrophic climate change, as we have already been witnessing in this infant year.

JUPITER IN SAGITTARIUS

8 November 2018 ~ 3 December 2019

Creating a life that is better than the one you have now

It’ll feel like a changing of the guard as Jupiter changes signs on 8 November. While Jupiter is in Sagittarius (8 November 2018 ~ 3 December 2019), our focus will be on self-improvement. You can be, do, and have anything you wantJupiter, the planet of blessings and abundance, will enter her home sign of Sagittarius on 8 November for the first time in nearly 12 years. This is monumental in terms of you now having the support to achieve any and all of your pie-in-the-sky aspirations. There are no limits other than the ones you place upon yourself, and Jupiter in Sagittarius will help you erase those limitation lines like no other astrological event can. He promotes expansion, education, legal solutions, travel, interaction with foreigners, sales and in some folks, bullshit. But the fire energy is uplifting and usually triggers an optimistic spirit on the street. Jupiter is the gambler in his home sign — he deals you aces in the house he travels through in your birth chart.

Sagittarius is a fiery sign that reflects future potentials and possibilities and is a sign closely linked to religious and philosophical thought. In many ways, Jupiter in Sagittarius is a double dose of Jupiter, because Jupiter rules the sign of the archer, and the need to find a higher or spiritual meaning to the vicissitudes of life is doubly potent. Additionally, we may see laws (Sagittarius rules legal matters) created based on the movements created during Jupiter in Scorpio including legislation related to sexual abuse, workplace harassment, sexuality, and perhaps, racial issues.

Jupiter in Sagittarius will lead many on a spiritual or philosophical journey to make sense of the difficulties and struggles you have experienced. Sometimes, if you can find a purpose for your suffering, your difficulties are easier to swallow, and recovery becomes possible. You may find interest in different forms of metaphysical modalities, especially ones related to the mind and mental programming. This will be a great time for intention-based work, as well as the use of affirmations or other self-affirming practices. Also, since Sagittarius rules higher education, this would be an amazing time to return to school or consider some form of a vocational program.

URANUS IN TAURUS

15 May 2018 ~ 26 April 2026

A revolution is underway, a tearing down of old systems to allow for new and more resilient foundations to be built. Uranus will be mostly in Taurus for the next seven to eight years, but its retrograde phase will take it back into Aries for a few months starting in November. We will likely see events that relate to our current experiences around 6 November 2018, and again around 6 March 2019, when Uranus again crosses the threshold between Taurus and Aries.

Once every seven to eight years iconoclastic Uranus changes signs to revolutionise our lives. The foundations are cracking under the tension as electric Uranus shifts into Taurus. Uranus values the element of surprise and refuses to be predicted. Instead of feeling overly nervous about what lies ahead, we need to keep in mind that the changes Uranus brings are in some way vital to our progress. They shake us up, propel us out of complacency, and shift mass consciousness as a way of accelerating our evolution. Uranus ingressing Taurus is all about disrupting the status quo and what has gotten stale, through new ideas, inventions and maybe even some revolutionary action. Although Uranus is considered a cultural or generational indicator, you can still watch for how it's showing up in your personal life and channel its energy as constructively as possible. Taurus tends to get attached, resist change, and try to stay comfy. So how can you integrate these two energies? Perhaps remind yourself that the only constant is change. Going with the flow can help; seeing your opportunities to do something differently and going for it – at a gentle pace – could be even more effective.

When an outer planet changes signs, it usually corresponds with important events in the world. Uranus, in particular, has the reputation for shaking up the status quo when it changes signs. Uranus, which takes 84 years to go around the zodiac. Last time Uranus was in Taurus 1934-1941, the New Deal turned the American economy and culture around, and the power structures of Europe changed. Over the next eight years we will be pushed to evolve our relationship to the world of matter : our bodies, our money, our resources, and our relationship to the earth. Because Uranus is an outer planet, the effects of its transit through Taurus will largely be seen on a global level -- but you'll certainly feel them personally, too. Even if we are resistant to the changes Uranus in Taurus brings, we have no choice but to go along for the ride, and, chances are, we'll realise in the end that these changes brought us to a much better place.

Since Taurus rules nature and is very security-minded and Uranus tends to cause instability, we would expect some natural events to manifest. We can also anticipate changes in financial matters and values in the years ahead. How we use money and what we find valuable will be revolutionised -- perhaps foreshadowed by the advent of bitcoins and the expansion of other electronic forms of money. Money is Taurus' main area of expertise, so while Uranus is in Taurus, we can expect some very revolutionary ways of handling and dealing with money, both nationwide and worldwide. During the seven years Uranus will spend in Taurus, brand-new forms of currency may arise, banks and banking could come to a halt or change dramatically, and the housing and stock markets may be in for a major shake-up.

On a more personal level, Uranus in Taurus encourages us to break free from the grips of money : debt, taxes, credit card interest, rent, and mortgages are all things that can prevent us from saving money or using it the way we want to. We may also feel trapped by our material possessions in general. During this transit, we must be ready and willing to change our relationship to money and materialism – we no longer have a choice. Uranus is here to liberate us, and digging in our heels and resisting won't make things any easier ... and won't stop these changes from happening. The changes we make during this period can actually help bring us to a point of greater stability, and can be very long-lasting.

CHIRON IN ARIES

18 April 2018 ~ 14 April 2027

Chiron’s sign changes often arrive with immediate shifts in the social climate and turning points in history. What may have seemed impossible in one moment of time is suddenly the thing that’s happening in another. Chiron began the  journey it’s just completed through Pisces in April 2010, a period that could be described by Prof. Eric McLuhan : The body is everywhere assaulted by all of our new media, a state which has resulted in deep disorientation of intellect and destabilization of culture throughout the world. In the age of disembodied communication, the meaning and significance and experience of the body is utterly transformed and distorted.

In this new chapter of our global rehabilitation, the intended result is the healing of masculine energy, which in its wounded forms manifests as bullying, combativeness, and violence. On individual levels, Chiron in Aries works in the areas of self-confidence and healthy assertiveness, helping us move beyond the need to become angry and aggressive to make ourselves seen. Chiron moving from Pisces to Aries is about taking responsibility for oneself. Chiron in Aries will expose the wounds to our personal identity. How well can we defend ourselves and our rights ? Are we able to express our needs with confidence that they will be met ? Do our own needs blind us to the needs and rights of others, making relationships difficult or impossible ? Can we manifest what we desire and feel confident in our own life adventure ? These are all questions that will be a focus while Chiron is in Aries.

The image of Chiron entering Aries is that of many people waking up at the same time, though what they wake up to will differ. One possibility is anger. There is no estimating the amount and depth of suppressed rage that is brewing underground in the collective psyche. This rage is bending and twisting all of emotion, resulting in some strange and unpredictable effects in society. It is important to remember that Chiron’s astrological role is to promote the integration of the body, mind, spirit system and to achieve balance in the body’s energetic framework. We can prepare for any Chiron event by doing a self-assessment to see how well our life patterns are supporting our health and ability to heal.

The effect Chiron will have in our individual lives will vary according to our individual birthchart. Those of us around age 50-52 who have Chiron in Aries natally will experience their Chiron return at some point in their lives, a time of reckoning when we experience some sort of healing crisis. This can be a clearing of emotional debris which manifests as a deeply emotional time, or it can be marked with a health crisis that necessitates a change in the manner in which we live our lives. Or it can be a positive time of self care and healthy living to prepare us for the next phase of our lives as we move towards the Saturn return. If we have planets in the cardinal signs (Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn) we will experience a transit of Chiron to those points at some time in the next eight years.  Depending on the planet affected, we may find ourselves feeling triggered emotionally, or perhaps a loss of energy.

The time has come to return to speaking in « I-statements, » taking responsibility and ownership of our own experiences, and making a point to distinguish ourself from group identity. This may thrust many people into a kind of identity crisis, since so much of our identity is currently tribal, but struggling to be something else. Among the first-tier properties of Chiron is standing out, distinguishing oneself, and being different — pretty much no matter what the cost. When Chiron is present, it’s time to be a maverick. It’s pretty easy to hide by trying to blend in, though this comes at the expense of learning how to be yourself. Not being yourself means being someone else, which is not possible — so the crisis is something of an encounter with the reality gap.

2019 is going to sail us into completely foreign waters. Our world has well and truly changed – not changing. The shaking is set to continue, and (believe it or not) it is in our own best interests. 2019 will packed with frenetic episodes, energetic jolts of enlightenment, replete with the usual hard knocks and tough-love lessons for you romantics. It is not enough to simply hide out and 'meditate' your way into a better world. Sure mindful practices will help, but in the coming months we will be pressed to take some action. 2019 (and 2020) will be years in which our actions speak volumes. This includes our inaction which itself will produce effects like never before. Society itself is going through its own massive changes right now, the birth pangs of a more inclusive and equal-opportunity society that is still to come, and this is reflected in the strong Saturn-Pluto parallel which gets even closer over the next few months, peaking in March, and then again in August. Pluto with Saturn implies a draconian approach to social ills, and a re-forming of the society itself, and of the patterns of our individual lives. Earth oriented Haumea, operating in connection with trickster Uranus during the first half of the year pushes forward the theme of climate change. Other societal themes are likely to involve the illusions and idealisations of Neptune, quite prominent in these January skies, and beyond.

The overarching theme in 2019 has a lot to do with learning to create balance between having blind faith and grounding all of this remarkable idealism you find yourself swimming in. We move into the new year feeling as if the sky truly is the limit. There is, however, a subtle difference between living in la-la land and manifesting the destiny you know is within your grasp. In 2019 you get to master this fascinating lesson. In 2019 you can accomplish more than your wildest dreams envision as long as you keep your feet firmly planted on the ground as you reach for the stars. Remember, an arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. If life drags you down with difficulties, it means it's going to launch you into something great. So just focus and keep aiming. That is the beauty of Jupiter in Sagittarius aligned with Neptune and Saturn linked to Neptune this year : practical magic. Use it well.

The Uranus/Neptune semisquares (2017-2020) lead us all deeper into the rabbit-hole of altered perceptions and soul-shock. We will be better served by serving our own inner light. Sooner or later we might have to take matters into our hands. Nobody is there to help if we don't show that we are keen to act for ourselves. In this sense, acting sooner, with a sense of urgency is absolutely imperative.

2019 starts out with Uranus finishing up his trek through Aries for good. Until 6 March he'll travel through the last degree of this sign, reminding us how to use our sense of independent, pioneering spirit in a way that is liberating without being reckless. Once Uranus enters Taurus on 6 March, he'll remain here through April 2026. The foundation of your life is bound to crack in some way in order to alert you to the fact that it's no longer serving as a solid base, but rather a suffocating boundary. Don't be afraid to reinvent yourself in terms of your values and your place in the material world. It's time.

Start the new year with a strong emotional foothold. In January, there are two eclipses. Often, the way that we commence a year sets a precedence for how the rest of the year will go.  Engage in actions during the eclipses so that you can harmonise with the planetary energies and uplift yourself. Be clear on what you wish to contribute to the world, activities in which you will partake, what you will forgo this year, and how you will design your life. Eclipses allow a deep time for spiritual reflection and introspection. Eclipses across the Cancer/Capricorn axis throughout 2019 amplify themes of family and security versus your reputation and place in the world. Many will begin new career paths at the Solar Eclipse in Capricorn on 5 January which aligns perfectly to Saturn in Capricorn. This eclipse means business and offers you the potential to move mountains. This solar eclipse will be a positive alignment with the balanced star Vega in the Lyra constellation and has a creative influence. The January solar eclipse conjunct with Saturn brings up a serious mood but the light energy of Neptune acts as a relaxant. It’s a great time to start a new business or for embarking on a creative journeya bit of kindness and charity will go a long way during this time.

A Lunar eclipse takes place in Leo on 21 January. It’s a passionate time and it will be affected by rebellious Uranus. Some unexpected news might create sudden consternation in you. It will be an anxious period and you will be uncertain about what the future might bring. On top of that, the lunar eclipse arrives at a place where there are only dim stars making no place for light. However, the Sun comes to the rescue aligned with brighter stars giving more courage during this tough time. Adaptability, patience and an open mind will help a lot during this period and will help us when new opportunities come our way.

Jupiter, the planet of exuberance and faith, moved into his home sign of Sagittarius back on 8 November 2018, and will remain here through 2 December 2019. This presents an incredible opportunity to believe in the possibilities of life in a way that you might not have in quite some time. While Jupiter was touring Scorpio, there was an intensity to your pursuit of happiness that sometimes felt heavy. Now that Jupiter is in Sagittarius, you look and feel lighter. In fact, you might notice that you're all smiles as the year begins.

Jupiter will square Neptune on 13 January, 16 June, and 21 September. Neptune might lead you to be hopelessly unrealistic about a situation and that may, ultimately, lead to disappointment. When others can't fulfill your pedestal version of them and they remind you that they are only human after all, it can be quite disenchanting. The same might happen if you're working on a project that you have high hopes for. If you're only working on faith and forget the brass tacks, the happy ending you're hoping for might never materialise. The days around this square are not the best time, but it will test your strength in the face of disappointment. You might be too optimistic during this time – more idealistic than in the real world. You might trust your romantic partner more than they deserve – you might even take risks based on your rose-tinted view of the world and fall flat. Your resources will no longer seem as safe and sound as you thought they were – so you have to take extra caution during this period.

Fortunately, the universe will provide a simultaneous opportunity for you to ground all of this idealism into something real – as long as you remember to keep your eyes open. Neptune will make a supportive sextile to stabilising Saturn on 31 January, 18 June, and again on 8 November. This impossible dream you have doesn't have to be unattainable. All you need to do is combine your vision with a solid plan. Let Saturn help you focus your blurry lens of naïveté that Neptune brings. Saturn sextile Neptune promises to bring material gains from your spiritual journey. You will now be more capable of pursuing your dreams. There will be limitations but the planet will feed you the right amount of optimistic energy needed to push you onwards and approach your dream in a realistic manner. Plus, you will be able to fit in your spiritual needs within this bigger picture of life. You might have to make sacrifices but that will be for your greater good. You will be more capable to help people follow their dream, too, with your spiritual support backing them up.

Seek wise counsel. For most of 2019, Jupiter will be in Scorpio in the nakshatra of Jyestha. Jupiter is archetypically a teacher or an advisor whom one looks to for proper guidance. Jupiter is called Guru in Sanskrit – the term for a spiritual teacher. Depending on what astrological house Jupiter will be transiting in your chart, this counsel may take the form of a spiritual teacher, a mentor, an attorney, an astrologer, an accountant, a doctor, a therapist, etc. For success in 2019 you can benefit from such advisors and stay on the path of dharma.

A quite interesting configuration is re-emerging in this January context, and growing stronger over the first few months of 2019. That is the partile or same-degree opposition of the  Eris/Uranus midpoint to Haumea, earth goddess energy of Profound Connection to Nature, and to natural law. Haumea is located at 26 plus degrees of Libra, opposite the midpoint in Aries, having reached it late last year, and is stationing retrograde there on 24 January. This brings renewed attention to earth changes, and to global warming as one super important issue. This is in fact likely to become the biggest agenda of the next decade. Perhaps it really is true, as a philosophical sage once remarked, that the best concept of freedom is to understand the direction that history is moving, and head that way.

Refine your skills in 2019 as Saturn will transit the nakshatra of Purva Ashadha in Sagittarius. This constellation believes in making oneself a better vessel. It allows us to improve our life circumstances by fine tuning our skills – whatever they may be. By adding to your repertoire,  you can extend a wider array of offerings to the world. 2019 is the year can contemplate how you can « build a better mousetrap ». This involves thinking more acutely and performing at your best. The motivation here is to be successful in all your endeavours. Practice patience. While you are polishing your skills, you must have composure. It’s time to put the drama aside and to have forbearance.  Don’t get distracted from your pursuits. When the going gets tough, be proactive and use the resources you have at hand. This is not the year to share all your complaints on social media.  However, 2019 is the year to be rewarded for your efforts if you give them proper time and attention.

Indulge in creative endeavours. Fun loving Rahu moves into Gemini in March. Gemini indicates the use of one’s arms, creativity, and the arts. Rahu hates routines more than anything else ! It wants to participate in new and exciting endeavours regularly. For example, take an art class, play an instrument, do creative writing, dance, or whatever will get your artistic juices flowing. Perhaps do something related to a foreign culture, to further satisfy Rahu’s cravings.

Take a trip abroad. With Ketu joining Saturn (through Sept 2020) in Sagittarius – the astrological house of foreign travel – you’ll want to heed the callings of your wanderlust. In addition, Saturn represents foreigners. Therefore, it’s the ideal time to learn about a new culture. You may benefit from a spiritual pilgrimage. This planetary pairing can take your meditation practices to greater depths.  On the other hand, if you are in the mood for something lighter, take a trip for leisure. See what you appreciate about the lifestyle and values of another culture and how you can incorporate these aspects to help you live a more aligned life.

A Solar Eclipse on 2 July in Cancer will oppose Saturn, asking you to let go of what you thought made you secure in order to become the master builder of your life. These themes continue through to the 16 July Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn (and into the eclipses at the end of the year). Uranus and a star present in Gemini Constellation will bring a lot of positive vibes and cement your friendships and relationships with sprinklings of good times. It’s a time when people will come together for peaceful negotiations. If you are open-minded and work hard, you can even accomplish what you dreamed of.

The Lunar Eclipse that will happen in Capricorn 16 July is a powerful one, happening in conjunct with intense Pluto. It will likely make you a bit emotional and there might be some crisis regarding power struggles. Eris, the dwarf planet that this eclipse will square, will strengthen the feminist attacks to destroy patriarchy. While there might be scandals and destruction of reputations, there will also be sympathy and understanding during this time.

The ending of the year will be great. Jupiter will trine Uranus on 15 December and bring exciting encounters into your life. Jupiter is expansive so you might want to go out of your comfort zone and start exploring the world more. You will feel the freedom to take more risks, expand your point of view and pick up new opportunities as they come in your way. You have to push boundaries and live in an expansive manner. There might be unexpected opportunities that come your way, and all of it can get you to a positive change that you need in the year.

A Solar Eclipse on 26 December in Capricorn conjunct Jupiter in Capricorn and trine Uranus in Taurus will be magical. Expect a sudden, material windfall to occur if you've done the work of securing your place in the world.

This next year is of course the prelude to 2020, and the Eris - Pluto square, already quite close, will then become still more prominent. We might expect both a radical empowerment of the extremely potent transformational energies represented by Uranus-Pluto, in square until 2020, and the rise of individualists following their own inner compass to the exclusion of all else, in a dedicated fight for what they most deeply espouse. This maverick energy fights for what it believes, possibly supporting odd-ball causes until it finds its actual centre. The rise of feminism, and of #MeToo/Time’s Up, and of women in politics are examples of the recent prominence of this Feminine Warrior rebellious energy emerging into the zeitgeist.
