UCLG ASPAC at UCLG World Retreat: Fostering Synergies of Our Work with Global Partners
11 - 15 February 2019 | BARCELONA, Spain - UCLG ASPAC Secretariat led by Dr. Bernadia I. Tjandradewi participated in UCLG Retreat, an annual high-level gathering to discuss strategic priorities for the World Organization. This year event took place in Barcelona, Spain, from 10 to 15 February 2019. Building LG's Capacity Consistently, Developing Cities Sustainably
18 – 19 February 2019 | KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Upon the adoption of the New Urban Agenda (NUA) and the global commitment on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015, cities are working together to develop their cities in ensuring that the sustainability with be achieved under the spirit of “no one is left behind”. Among the various approaches taken by the city of Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with Malaysia National Government, is to promote inclusive debates and discussion on sustainable urban development by bringing together various relevant stakeholders on Malaysia Urban Forum 9 (MUF9) from 18 to 19 February 2019. Public Space for Jakarta: Transforming Challenge into Solution
8 February 2019 | JAKARTA, Indonesia – Sustainable Development Goal 11 (particularly Target 11.7) states that one of the indications for SDGs localisation is the provision of universal access to safe, inclusive and accessible, green and public spaces, in particular for women and children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities by 2030. UCLG ASPAC has empowered local governments by leading the application of inclusive and bottom-up approach in the establishment of public spaces in various cities. Currently, UCLG ASPAC is in close collaboration with local government of Jakarta, with support of UN-Habitat, to identify the best sites within Jakarta area to develop public space which will contribute to social cohesion and community resilience.
