ASTROLOGY of the DAY

Friday • 01 Mar 2019

Good intentions won’t get us very far today. And relationships are in the spotlight, as Venus interacts with three other planets and also makes a change of signsVenus forms a square to Uranus in Aries on Friday, activating a restlessness and inciting rebellion against any liaisons that are restrictive or controlling. We may see old alliances disintegrate with this aspect, especially those that have limited the independence and autonomy of any of the parties involved. Venus is entering Aquarius, known for being a very unconventional, progressive, and freedom-loving sign. While Venus is in Aquarius (until 26 March), the cosmos support our expressing greater authenticity and autonomy within our relationships. This means some relationship forms will shift, to allow greater freedom of expression for all parties. Some may even break apart if they are not flexible enough to adapt to the changing energiesVenus is in sextile aspect to Chiron late on Friday. This will help us remain true to ourselves during any negotiations, even as we honour the rights of others to have their own agendas.

As the week-end begins some familiar problem raises their head as the Capricorn Moon conjuncts dour Saturn and Pluto. For this week-end, it can help to step outside of the nuclear family and reach out to our community; our tribe, our groups or teams, can make us happy and provide camaraderie as the Moon and Venus conjunct in Aquarius. Though it’s not a great time for personal intimacy and relationships, it’s good to hold hands and deal with the world together.

In five days Mercury will turn Retrograde, and this one will be no fun.  Best then to finalise matters and finish up all the details you can before tricky Mercury begins to back up on the bases on 5 March.

We’re pulled off course by romantic attractions or lucrative financial plans as magnetic Venus forms an exciting square with independent Uranus lasting through the week-end. Depending on how you manage this aspect will determine how it influences your life. This transit influence often creates trouble with relationships – Venus rules relationships and Uranus wants to break free of conventional standards and social mores. We need to be honest with ourselves and take risks in your relationships; otherwise, problems are bound to happen most likely in mid-May when Venus conjoins Uranus in Taurus. This Transit can also influence us to spend recklessly, so be careful there too. Taurus and Libra Sun and Rising will likely feel the most erratic and troubled during this time.

Venus, the planet of love, moves out of structured Capricorn and enters wild and crazy AquariusRelationship needs are met through friendship and intellectual stimulation. You might find that your need for stimulation shifts more to groups and acquaintances, rather than primary partnerships. On the personal level, Venus in Aquarius reflects a cyclical period where we need to look at our relationships using reason and logic rather than through emotional connection and earthy necessities. If your relationship is not working, then it’s time to look at the reasons why problems are occurring, which requires honesty yet will give you the strategy to improve your relationships.

Venus in Aquarius is effective to develop financial strategies for the future by taking a detached and emotional perspective at problems in your current financial situation. Since Saturn, the natural ruler of Aquarius is moving through goal-oriented Capricorn, your chance of success and resolving your financial issues once and for all is high.

An ambitious Capricorn Moon activates our most practical dreams of success, our follow-through may fall short of our expectations. Look for a gift hidden in an old conundrum or look for something completely different. Any change of pace, any different environment, can really shift those gears and allow good things to happen. To support relationships, break routine together.

The planets suggest our feelings may be as soggy as snowmelt in early spring weather this week. The conditions inside and out can get even sloppier as Mercury retrogrades in sensitive swampy Pisces.

Beauty-loving Venus can help us find a temporary cure for our tough moods if we start an unusual conversation with people outside our normal framework or engage our hearts in an act of compassion or dive into some creative project as Venus squares eccentric Uranus and then leaves Capricorn to enter friendlier, if less emotionally intimate, Aquarius. One thing we do have to look out for in our restlessness is an illusion that all change is good.

It’s important that we tend to our practical work on Monday because everything slows down another notch, or gets complicated, as the Moon enters sensitive Pisces and Mercury retrogrades in Pisces on Tuesday. This will feel like a super retrograde Mercury with an elongated cycle, so let’s find a good way to work with the energy.

Mercury just conjunct foggy, confusing, creative, intuitive Neptune on 19 February, now turns retrograde and backs up to conjunct Neptune twice more, on 25 March and 3 April. While this could be wonderful for writing novels or doing our spiritual work, it could be really tricky for pragmatic communication. With Mercury-Neptune we can dream a beautiful new future into existence, but need to check on that practical follow through later.

Another shift this week, a major one which will change the backdrop of our life over the next eight years, but may or may not bring an event this month. Uranus enters Taurus. Uranus, the cosmic clutch, brings change to whatever sign it traverses. Taurus speaks of material comfort and stability. Uranus entered Taurus briefly last spring, from 15 May to 6 November, retrograded back into Aries, and now enters Taurus for the next eight years. Uranus in Taurus ushers in financial and pragmatic change and we need to direct our changes carefully over the next eight years.

MARCH
(including Wow & Whoa days)

March will be an important period in 2019. There will be a lot of energy shifts taking place during this period. You will feel the push and pull of the universe but don’t get exhausted too easily. There will be some surprises waiting to happen during this month. The first thing to do is to de-stress yourself. Only then will you be able to understand the universe and communicate with it effectively. Let the March energy infuse through you and make you a better version of yourself. If you ever feel exhausted, meditate and become better.

With Mercury going Retrograde – one of the most confusing and difficult Mercury Retrogrades in recent memory happening in dreamy Pisces, ruled by Neptunefrom 5 ~ 28 March – and Uranus entering Taurus on the same day as a New Moon in Pisces, we know that big change abounds. Then the latter part of the month brings a Full Moon in Libra a couple hours after the EquinoxThere is a great turn of events and with that shift emphasised by a Full Moon, it’s an event of cosmic proportions. It’s also the first of two Full Moons in Libra in a row, so the emphasis of it is longer lasting than usual.

On 1 March, things really begin to start moving. Surprising conversations arrive on 1 March when Venus squares off with Uranus and it puts all our needs and relationships to a test.

Also on 1 March, Venus enters Aquarius. This is a great time to introduce yourself to people.

Mercury will be retrograde from 5 ~ 28 March in the gentle sign of Pisces, allowing you to reconsider your approach toward an imaginative endeavour. You might also find that you're more intuitive than usual but that you're second guessing those hunches you have. Don't overthink it. Expect many of the conversations and decisions you've made since 19 February to be revisited now. This is an especially turbulent retrograde for your finances — so be especially cautious about your budget and don’t place any wild bets at this time.

Who you are has been awakened under the rays of Uranus in Aries, and now it's time to throw some electricity around what you have, what you value, and what you're really worth. Wake up ! It is time that we reassess ourselves. A process that had begun 9 years ago in April 2010 is coming to an end now. What we had been processing since the retrograde of Uranus back on 6 November will now take a tangible form. We may have to connect the dots from the events that took place in May 2018.

6 March is arguably the most astrologically significant date of the month when Uranus, the great awakener of the zodiac, will move into the slow, methodical sign of Taurus where he remains through April 2026, there's a New Moon in Pisces, and the Sun meets Neptune. This is HUGE and will have major ramifications for everyone both personally and collectively. Uranus’s entry into Taurus will shake things up in your home and family life — think back to May through November of 2018; something that began then will pick up speed now. The New Moon in Pisces begins a new cycle around money and self-worth, and the Sun’s meeting with Neptune offers a healing balm around any bruised egos, and opens up your intuitive abilities — you might not be able to find the right words, but things are feeling like they’re making more sense.

Expect major shifts in money matters during this transit. If you remember to develop your most unique talents over the next several years you should do very well under this vibration financially. You might also notice significant change ahead in values, and you will be able to break free from any that are not true to who you really are.

A New Moon in Pisces on 6 March will help stimulate a new path for you in terms of your spirituality and creativity. This month, you’re figuring out what you want, and this New Moon will bring you closer to understanding what that may be.

Mars connects with Neptune on 10 March, bringing a wonderfully creative atmosphere, and powerful energy flows as the Sun connects with Pluto and squares off with Jupiter on 13 March. This is a powerful time to network; you may meet some very intriguing people.

A productive energy flows as Mars connects with Saturn on 14 March, plus, the Sun meets Mercury on 14 March, which is a critical moment during Mercury’s retrograde — an important perspective is gained.

Mid-month is busy for Mercury retrograde, hitting critical mass with its clash with Jupiter on 15 March – hard-to-swallow truths will be coming our way – as well as its connections with Pluto on 16 March – which will encourage a bit of candour and you can take advantage of that – and Mars on 17 March find you thinking back to 19 February through 23 February — again, conversations and plans are being reconsidered

The two planets of war, Mars and Pluto, connect on 20 March, helping to come up with a battle plan. Mercury connects with Saturn also on 20 March, again, bringing us back to 20 February and reconsidering commitments.

The Spring Equinox arrives when the sun enters fire sign Aries on March 20. The Sun moving into Aries brings the opportunity to stabilise our thoughts and communication as Mercury will come to sextile Saturn. It will also bring challenges to our relationships.

A Full Moon at 0 degrees in air sign Libra comes on this day, too. A major climax in an important conversation arrives. The Full Moon in Libra on 20 March will make you keenly aware of where you stand in a close partnership. and an unavoidable light will shine brightly on this relationship

Mercury meets Neptune on 24 March, again finding you thinking back to 19 February, and asking you to stay open-minded about things a creative solution to a problem may be found. It's possible finances can be in a bit of trouble during this period.

Mercury Retrograde ends on 28 March, so expect conversations and plans to begin moving forward between then and 16 AprilMercury will station direct and begin its final passage through Chiron.

On the last day of the month, Mars will leave Taurus and move into Gemini. There is freedom. No more burden. People will be happy in their gossip and enjoy multitasking.

VENUS IN AQUARIUS

1 March ~ 26 March

Venus is entering Aquarius, known for being a very unconventional, progressive, and freedom-loving sign. While Venus is in Aquarius (until 26 March), the cosmos support our expressing greater authenticity and autonomy within our relationships. This means some relationship forms will shift, to allow greater freedom of expression for all parties. Some may even break apart if they are not flexible enough to adapt to the changing energies.

How flexible are your closest relationships (especially the more intimate kind) when it comes to new experiences ? What do you need to get out in the open with a partner ? In what ways are you itching to make a bold declaration, indicate your interest, or otherwise spark up your interactions ? All of these questions appear to be on the table today. So how can you answer them with action rather than just more thinking and imagining and wishing ?

We’re oddly unattached to producing final results as Venus, the planet of love, moves out of structured Capricorn and enters wild and crazy AquariusRelationship needs are met through friendship and intellectual stimulation, and in most cases, expresses itself in a detached and often ambivalent way. You might find that your need for stimulation shifts more to groups and acquaintances, rather than primary partnerships. Venus in Aquarius is ethical and loyal with a strong distaste for intense emotions and will shut down if it feels like it is being emotionally manipulated. Keep tabs on what, exactly, you may be provoking in others (and whether it's truly the reaction you'd prefer). Supplying a little extra warmth than you might automatically offer looks like a useful approach.

Venus in Aquarius is effective to develop financial strategies for the future. Using a detached and emotional perspective, this placement provides you with a cool and logical approach that will help you see problems in your current financial situation and will provide you with the tools to deal with them. Since Saturn, the natural ruler of Aquarius is moving through goal-oriented Capricorn, your chance of success and resolving your financial issues once and for all is high.

JUPITER IN SAGITTARIUS

8 November 2018 ~ 3 December 2019

Jupiter, the planet of blessings and abundance, will enter her home sign of Sagittarius on 8 November for the first time in nearly 12 years. This is monumental in terms of you now having the support to achieve any and all of your pie-in-the-sky aspirations. There are no limits other than the ones you place upon yourself, and Jupiter in Sagittarius will help you erase those limitation lines like no other astrological event can. While Jupiter is in Sagittarius (8 November 2018 ~ 3 December 2019), our focus will be on self-improvement. You can be, do, and have anything you want. One of the keywords associated with Jupiter is luck, and when Jupiter transits one of your natal planets, good stuff can happen, and usually does; however, according to the mystical Kabbalah, luck is not given simply because of happenstance, luck happens because you are intuitive enough to notice opportunities and turn them into reality. In many ways, luck is our ability to leap from our secure porch of the now and have the certainty to leap into an unknown future.

URANUS IN TAURUS

15 May 2018 ~ 26 April 2026

A revolution is underway, a tearing down of old systems to allow for new and more resilient foundations to be built. We will likely see events that relate to our current experiences around 6 November 2018, and again around 6 March 2019, when Uranus again crosses the threshold between Taurus and Aries. Once every seven to eight years iconoclastic Uranus changes signs to revolutionise our lives. Uranus ingressing Taurus is all about disrupting the status quo and what has gotten stale, through new ideas, inventions and maybe even some revolutionary action. Since Taurus rules nature and is very security-minded and Uranus tends to cause instability, we would expect some natural events to manifest. We can also anticipate changes in financial matters and values in the years ahead. How we use money and what we find valuable will be revolutionised. During this transit, we must be ready and willing to change our relationship to money and materialism – we no longer have a choice. The changes we make during this period can actually help bring us to a point of greater stability, and can be very long-lasting.

CHIRON IN ARIES

18 February 2018 ~ 14 April 2027

Chiron’s sign changes often arrive with immediate shifts in the social climate and turning points in history. What may have seemed impossible in one moment of time is suddenly the thing that’s happening in another. Chiron was last in Aries from 1968-1977. Chiron moving into Aries is an eight-year phase of exposing and healing wounds related to that sign.

Chiron finally makes its first return to the sign Aries since 1977 along with the Sun having entered Pisces. As the Sun offers a unity sensibility and Chiron begins asking you to notice who you really are. You have the power to devote yourself to the healing you need, and to being the one who refuses to perpetuate the patterns that have hurt you. It may mean taking a little extra space for yourself in your life, but it's worth it. Chiron, known as the Wounded Healer, has the formidable task of both exposing and healing humanity's wounds and fears. As Chiron moves through Aries (until 2026-27), it will uncover and begin to heal wounds associated with a lack of self-confidence, with the fear that we don't have the right to be ourselves or to have what we desire, and with the tendency to revert to anger and aggression as a way of asserting ourselves. We will be uncovering old scars in these areas, and learning how to love the part of us that feels the pain of these wounds.

Ponder this ...

• How flexible are my closest relationships (especially the more intimate kind) when it comes to new experiences ?
• What do I need to get out in the open with a partner ?
• In what ways am I itching to make a bold declaration, indicate interest, or otherwise spark up interactions ?
• How can I act on my heart's callings or desires rather than just more thinking and imagining and wishing ?

Real intimacy is a sacred experience. ~ John O'Donohue

Intimacy, Connection, That Which Makes Our Heart Sing, Joy overflowing … these are what we are seeking, craving, needing, desiring, wishing for quite dramatically and with every fibre of our being for the next month.

There is a need to let relationship partners off the hook from being or seeking all things from one person or one relationship. Let’s make an effort to (re)connect with our friends, our tribe, our community, our peeps, to come back into flow and relationship with them at deeper levels.

Some relationships and partnerships may not be able to withstand this need for greater connection, may not understand a desire for greater freedom to interact and be with others … surfacing deep seated issues that create too much pressure and expectation on a relationship or partner. And if these are not able to be sorted through, given a release valve, and there is a lack of openness and willingness to stretch and expand the relationship, to allow for greater freedom and experimentation in order to shake up the status quo that has grown stagnant and stale, then some relationships and partnerships are likely to dissolve during this time.

We need to discover or reconnect with the throb, the beat, the rhythm of our own heart’s desires, joy and happiness. And then, once we’ve done that (and not before by losing ourselves to the beat and rhythm of one or more others), we want to seek out those who are in sync, in harmony, in the flow of our own heart’s throb.

We need to be softer and more receptive now, remaining true to ourselves while honouring the rights of others to have their own agendas.

Openness and experimentation are key to growth, connection and deeper intimacy.

Don’t hold back the heart now. Express freely. And don’t limit or restrict how others need and want to express themselves right now.

Be gentle … allow yourself and others the freedom to express and be who they are, who they need to be, in whatever form that may take. It may be temporary, it may be forever. A momentary intermingling at the heart level that acknowledges, honours and elevates all involved will have profound effects on everyone.

MARIJUANA
There is always a danger in taking oneself too seriously. Joyful intoxication can be used as an exercise to discriminate the true inner reality from the outer delusions. On one sense, intoxication is at the heart of all living. Through insight and meditation on the moment at hand, one can pierce the illusion that can veil the eternal truth and reality of existence. Marijuana is a reminder of the need to accept the happiness and joy in life and not to be fixed on the things that are not « quite right. » Its essence gives us the opening to live life with inner quietude, peace and joy.

Venus is in sextile aspect to Chiron late on Friday. This will help us remain true to ourselves during any negotiations, even as we honour the rights of others to have their own agendas.

As the week-end begins some familiar problem raises their head as the Capricorn Moon conjuncts dour Saturn and Pluto. Whether we have a headache from the headlines or find that an old physical scar aches in the cold, or just itch with cabin fever after a long snowy winter, some repeating pattern can either give us an opportunity to do it right this time, or make uncomfortable with the status quo.

A Venus-Uranus square can make us feel like the grass is greener somewhere else. It’s easy to imagine that any problems we feel are the responsibility of the people around us rather than the existential zeitgeist, and think that a new relationship, different friends, new country, will solve the problem. But wherever we go, there we are. This transit influence often creates trouble with relationships – Venus rules relationships and Uranus wants to break free of conventional standards and social moresRelationship issues lurking beneath the surface may become problematic as we feel agitated and a need to be free, even if temporarily. If relationships are in rut, you may need to add something new and exciting to spice them up. If we aren’t getting that excitement, then someone usually acts out to create it. Boredom leads to picking a fight or doing something out of the ordinary to get a rise out of your partner, etc. However, if you fail to work on your relationship, then trouble may be on its way, and you may begin to self-sabotage in order to break free. Trouble is likely if you’ve been holding stuff in, holding stuff back, or if you just feel stifled and bored. This will be the time where you may let it all out and see what happens. We need to be honest with ourselves and take risks in your relationships; otherwise, problems are bound to happen most likely in mid-May when Venus conjoins Uranus in Taurus. This Transit can also influence us to spend recklessly, so be careful there too. ASTROLOGY of the WEEK

The planets suggest our feelings may be as soggy as snowmelt in early spring weather this week. The conditions inside and out can get even sloppier as Mercury retrogrades in sensitive swampy Pisces.

Art and good conversation help. Venus takes the lead. Women come to the rescue and see the need for change. The artist within us can find an answer when the logician in us cannot.  One thing we do have to look out for in our restlessness is an illusion that all change is good. A Venus-Uranus square can make us feel like the grass is greener, or at least the sidewalk less snowy, somewhere else. It’s easy to imagine that any problems we feel are the responsibility of the people around us rather than the existential zeitgeist, and think that a new relationship, different friends, new country, will solve the problem. But wherever we go, there we are.

Mercury is in Pisces, the sign opposite the one that it rules, Virgo, and so it’s not particularly at home now anyway. Let’s activate all Mercury retrograde survival skills. Confirm appointments, check schedules. Confirm all facts before responding. If the situation gets difficult, assume there’s been a misunderstanding and look for more information.

Water can make transportation difficult through sloppy weather and melting snow. Under this elongated Neptune-Mercury conjunction we need to find a good way to be sensitive, but not get stuck in an emotional swamp, explore with imagination but not get lost in conspiracy theories. Our imagination will be stronger than our concrete logic throughout March. Make an effort to pierce the veil of fog to understand what’s really going on rather than get lost in hopes and fears, or in a cloud of misinformation.

Uranus traversed Taurus from 1767-1774 in the run-up to the American Revolution, again in 1850-1859, as tension built up to the American Civil War. The last time Uranus traversed Taurus was 1933 to 1942 as America brought in the major works project, the New Deal, to recover from the financial upheaval of the Great Depression, and the economic difficulties in Europe sparked the beginnings of World War II. All three times Uranus in Taurus ushered in financial and pragmatic change in American culture and economics. In all cases, argument over how we handled our resources (Taurus) catalysed a rift, whether we gave taxes to England or made money off people kept in slavery. We need to direct our changes carefully over the next eight years.

Whoa Days

March will be an important period in 2019. There will be a lot of energy shifts taking place during this period. You will feel the push and pull of the universe but don’t get exhausted too easily. There will be some surprises waiting to happen during this month. The first thing to do is to de-stress yourself. Only then will you be able to understand the universe and communicate with it effectively. Let the March energy infuse through you and make you a better version of yourself. If you ever feel exhausted, meditate and become better.

The skies of March aren’t clear, but they will leave incredibly interesting watermarks for us to decipher. Reason can get washed away, but so too can resentments. With Mercury going Retrograde and Uranus entering Taurus on the same day as a New Moon in Pisces, we know that big change abounds.

Surprising conversations arrive on 1 March when Venus squares off with Uranus, and you might find that you have an unexpected change of heartVenus square Uranus and it puts all our needs and relationships to a test. Nothing will be the same anymore. When Venus met Pluto and the South Node just after Valentine’s day, things have started moving from that time onwards. Now, much of our life will be reshaping. Our heart will be more open. Or it might close down for others.

Also on 1 March, Venus enters Aquarius. This brings a more flirtatious and social mood. This is a great time to introduce yourself to people. When Venus departs from Capricorn and makes its way into the airy Aquarius, things will be put into perspective from a distance. Aquarius gives a lot of room and the time to breathe, understand, and decide for yourself. However, it can also make us detached.

You might not know which way you are travelling this month as we have the most confusing and difficult Mercury Retrograde in recent memory. This Rx cycle will be in dreamy Pi- sces, ruled by Neptune. Neptune takes 164 years to make a complete orbit around the Zodiac. On 3 February 2012, Neptune entered his home sign of Pisces and will stay in Pisces until March 2025. Any planet in a home sign becomes much more powerful — for better and for worse. Neptune is a space captain. His gifts inspire our imagination and creativity — poets, mu- sicians, preachers and spiritual healers all have powerful Neptune placements in their birth charts.

Dreams and visions are likely to be intense this month with all this psychic Piscean energy; it might be helpful for you to keep a dream journal. This energy is exceptionally creative and can fuel some of your best work in any artistic field. Gemini and Virgo birth signs, ruled by Mercury, need to be extra careful with all the details of life in March. Our pets and all small critters are also ruled by Mercury and may need extra attention this month as small problems can get out of hand during this Rx cycle.

Mercury will be retrograde from 5 ~ 28 March in the gentle sign of Pisces, allowing you to reconsider your approach toward an imaginative endeavour. You might also find that you're more intuitive than usual but that you're second guessing those hunches you have. Don't overthink it – instead write them down and see what comes to pass. Mercury rules communication and commerce, so this is not a great time to sign contracts or make important purchases. Expect many of the conversations and decisions you've made since 19 February to be revisited now. This is an especially turbulent retrograde for your finances — so be especially cautious about your budget and don’t place any wild bets at this time. That said, some money you've been waiting for may finally come your way, or an item you've lost may be returned to you. Mercury retrograde is not a great time to start new projects, but it’s a fine time to pick up something that was left on the back burner — or to simply rest. On an emotional level, this Mercury retrograde asks you to rethink what you expect in return for your time and energy, and to reflect on your sense of self-worth and security.

Mercury retrograde meets Pisces at its final degree which is also referred to as the degree of ultimate sorrow. It is in this place that Chiron stayed for so long and has now moved on. So, what Chiron had begun back in February will be brought back during this retrograde. You will not be your logical self and your heightened sensitivity will only confuse you further. You have to trust a part of your instincts when you are going through this period since everything will be foggy. Things would look like they are at a distance. You will have to pace yourself during this period and assess your steps carefully before taking them. During this retrograde, be cautious as you move forward. The retrograde is going to shake you up a bit so get ready to have a change of belief during this period. Maybe what you thought to be true is not so. That’s fine as you may be encountering a whole new truth.

Who you are has been awakened under the rays of Uranus in Aries, and now it's time to throw some electricity around what you have, what you value, and what you're really worth. Wake up ! It is time that we reassess ourselves. We must look forward and backward to make sure that we are in the right place. A process that had begun 9 years ago in April 2010 is coming to an end now. What we had been processing since the retrograde of Uranus back on 6 November will now take a tangible form. Maybe it will be related to food production, consumption, and your creative self. You have to connect the dots from the events that took place in May 2018.

6 March brings a lot of action with three cosmic events taking place simultaneouslyThe winds of change are definitely blowing ! This change is definitely one to watch out for and sit with — some incredible changes will manifest in your life. When the planet of chaotic change moves into a sign that prefers routine, there is bound to be some initial resistance. Fortunately, with Uranus, you can expect him to get you out of whatever coma you've been in so that you can stop being asleep at the wheel of your life and start driving the car again.

Going with the flow will be easier now, however with Mercury retrograde, you might not be sure which way that flow is. Again, it's all about trusting your gut this month, so allow it to lead and you won't regret it. Again, this month, you’re figuring out what you want, and this New Moon will bring you closer to understanding what that may be. The Pisces New Moon will be aligning with the reality-shifting Neptune and that just makes everything seem like an illusion. When Neptune comes in conjunct with the Sun during the New Moon, it asks you to forgive yourself.

The Sun connects with Saturn on 9 March, urging you to trust your intuition — and to catch up on rest.

Mars connects with Neptune on 10 March, bringing a wonderfully creative atmosphere, and powerful energy flows as the Sun connects with Pluto and squares off with Jupiter on 13 March. This is a potent time for dream work, or to work in a group toward a spiritual goal. This is also a powerful time to network; you may meet some very intriguing people.

As we ground ourselves and move forward, the middle of the month brings a paradox into our lives. It will develop an awareness of our own self, but also, simultaneously, break us completely.

A productive energy flows as Mars connects with Saturn on 14 March, plus, the Sun meets Mercury on 14 March, which is a critical moment during Mercury’s retrograde — an important perspective is gained. As the Sun and the retrograde Mercury meet, it would try to bring us at peace with ourselves and the issues of Chiron. But yet again, it will give us only a blurred understanding of our own selves.

Finances are a major theme right now, but so is feeling valued and respected for your energy.

The Full Moon in Libra on 20 March will make you keenly aware of where you stand in a close partnership. Are you fulfilled in this union or is there something not quite right ? Are you tired of making endless concessions just to keep the peace ? An unavoidable light will shine brightly on this relationship, either way. A major climax in an important conversation arrives. Mercury retrograde means that communication isn’t easy — however, an important point of view is gained today, and it’s time to let go of an old way of thinking. Libra is the sign of balance, so during this Full Moon, consider whether everyone is being heard. The Sun will be conjunct Uranus and Chiron. It will make relationships have the touch of wounded masculinity and searching for feminine care.

There will be two Full Moons in Libra this Aries season. This last of the three Super Moons will finally tell us what we need to accomplish our goals and then, we will be all-set for the coming year. The first Full Moon on 20 March will take place during Mercury retrograde in Pisces, making for an irrational mindset and difficulties during communication. However, it will form a beautiful trine with determined Mars, giving everyone a boost of courage that will help you take a leap of faith. It will also form a trine with transformative and spiritual Pluto, making this an incredibly healing time full of deep connection and compassion. On the more complicated side, this Full Moon will form a square with expansive Jupiter, which will encourage you to make decisions that feel good in the short term but have negative consequences in the longterm. Keep this in mind so that you don’t do anything that you may regret.

The second Full Moon in Libra on 19 April will probably be a far more intense Full Moon than the first one for many reasons as it will take place during the final hours of Aries season and it will land at 29 degrees, which is an incredibly critical time of heightened energy in which every situation in life will likely feel more pronounced.

Venus will be squaring Mars the following day to give you the necessary push. A very busy and social energy is in the air as Venus clashes with Mars (flirty) and mingles with lucky planet Jupiter on 21 March. This can result in a deep understanding or love.

Mercury meets Neptune on 24 March, again finding you thinking back to 19 February, and asking you to stay open-minded about things a creative solution to a problem may be found. It's possible finances can be in a bit of trouble during this period.

Venus enters Pisces on 26 March. It is spiritual and compassionate. You can use the energy of the meeting of Venus and Uranus the following day to heal your wounds in love

JUPITER IN SAGITTARIUS

8 November 2018 ~ 3 December 2019

Creating a life that is better than the one you have now

It’ll feel like a changing of the guard as Jupiter changes signs on 8 November. While Jupiter is in Sagittarius (8 November 2018 ~ 3 December 2019), our focus will be on self-improvement. You can be, do, and have anything you wantJupiter, the planet of blessings and abundance, will enter her home sign of Sagittarius on 8 November for the first time in nearly 12 years. This is monumental in terms of you now having the support to achieve any and all of your pie-in-the-sky aspirations. There are no limits other than the ones you place upon yourself, and Jupiter in Sagittarius will help you erase those limitation lines like no other astrological event can. He promotes expansion, education, legal solutions, travel, interaction with foreigners, sales and in some folks, bullshit. But the fire energy is uplifting and usually triggers an optimistic spirit on the street. Jupiter is the gambler in his home sign — he deals you aces in the house he travels through in your birth chart.

Sagittarius is a fiery sign that reflects future potentials and possibilities and is a sign closely linked to religious and philosophical thought. In many ways, Jupiter in Sagittarius is a double dose of Jupiter, because Jupiter rules the sign of the archer, and the need to find a higher or spiritual meaning to the vicissitudes of life is doubly potent. Additionally, we may see laws (Sagittarius rules legal matters) created based on the movements created during Jupiter in Scorpio including legislation related to sexual abuse, workplace harassment, sexuality, and perhaps, racial issues.

Jupiter in Sagittarius will lead many on a spiritual or philosophical journey to make sense of the difficulties and struggles you have experienced. Sometimes, if you can find a purpose for your suffering, your difficulties are easier to swallow, and recovery becomes possible. You may find interest in different forms of metaphysical modalities, especially ones related to the mind and mental programming. This will be a great time for intention-based work, as well as the use of affirmations or other self-affirming practices. Also, since Sagittarius rules higher education, this would be an amazing time to return to school or consider some form of a vocational program.

URANUS IN TAURUS

15 May 2018 ~ 26 April 2026

A revolution is underway, a tearing down of old systems to allow for new and more resilient foundations to be built. Uranus will be mostly in Taurus for the next seven to eight years, but its retrograde phase will take it back into Aries for a few months starting in November. We will likely see events that relate to our current experiences around 6 November 2018, and again around 6 March 2019, when Uranus again crosses the threshold between Taurus and Aries.

Once every seven to eight years iconoclastic Uranus changes signs to revolutionise our lives. The foundations are cracking under the tension as electric Uranus shifts into Taurus. Uranus values the element of surprise and refuses to be predicted. Instead of feeling overly nervous about what lies ahead, we need to keep in mind that the changes Uranus brings are in some way vital to our progress. They shake us up, propel us out of complacency, and shift mass consciousness as a way of accelerating our evolution. Uranus ingressing Taurus is all about disrupting the status quo and what has gotten stale, through new ideas, inventions and maybe even some revolutionary action. Although Uranus is considered a cultural or generational indicator, you can still watch for how it's showing up in your personal life and channel its energy as constructively as possible. Taurus tends to get attached, resist change, and try to stay comfy. So how can you integrate these two energies? Perhaps remind yourself that the only constant is change. Going with the flow can help; seeing your opportunities to do something differently and going for it – at a gentle pace – could be even more effective.

When an outer planet changes signs, it usually corresponds with important events in the world. Uranus, in particular, has the reputation for shaking up the status quo when it changes signs. Uranus, which takes 84 years to go around the zodiac. Last time Uranus was in Taurus 1934-1941, the New Deal turned the American economy and culture around, and the power structures of Europe changed. Over the next eight years we will be pushed to evolve our relationship to the world of matter : our bodies, our money, our resources, and our relationship to the earth. Because Uranus is an outer planet, the effects of its transit through Taurus will largely be seen on a global level -- but you'll certainly feel them personally, too. Even if we are resistant to the changes Uranus in Taurus brings, we have no choice but to go along for the ride, and, chances are, we'll realise in the end that these changes brought us to a much better place.

Since Taurus rules nature and is very security-minded and Uranus tends to cause instability, we would expect some natural events to manifest. We can also anticipate changes in financial matters and values in the years ahead. How we use money and what we find valuable will be revolutionised -- perhaps foreshadowed by the advent of bitcoins and the expansion of other electronic forms of money. Money is Taurus' main area of expertise, so while Uranus is in Taurus, we can expect some very revolutionary ways of handling and dealing with money, both nationwide and worldwide. During the seven years Uranus will spend in Taurus, brand-new forms of currency may arise, banks and banking could come to a halt or change dramatically, and the housing and stock markets may be in for a major shake-up.

On a more personal level, Uranus in Taurus encourages us to break free from the grips of money : debt, taxes, credit card interest, rent, and mortgages are all things that can prevent us from saving money or using it the way we want to. We may also feel trapped by our material possessions in general. During this transit, we must be ready and willing to change our relationship to money and materialism – we no longer have a choice. Uranus is here to liberate us, and digging in our heels and resisting won't make things any easier ... and won't stop these changes from happening. The changes we make during this period can actually help bring us to a point of greater stability, and can be very long-lasting.

CHIRON IN ARIES

18 April 2018 ~ 14 April 2027

Chiron’s sign changes often arrive with immediate shifts in the social climate and turning points in history. What may have seemed impossible in one moment of time is suddenly the thing that’s happening in another. Chiron began the  journey it’s just completed through Pisces in April 2010, a period that could be described by Prof. Eric McLuhan : The body is everywhere assaulted by all of our new media, a state which has resulted in deep disorientation of intellect and destabilization of culture throughout the world. In the age of disembodied communication, the meaning and significance and experience of the body is utterly transformed and distorted.

In this new chapter of our global rehabilitation, the intended result is the healing of masculine energy, which in its wounded forms manifests as bullying, combativeness, and violence. On individual levels, Chiron in Aries works in the areas of self-confidence and healthy assertiveness, helping us move beyond the need to become angry and aggressive to make ourselves seen. Chiron moving from Pisces to Aries is about taking responsibility for oneself. Chiron in Aries will expose the wounds to our personal identity. How well can we defend ourselves and our rights ? Are we able to express our needs with confidence that they will be met ? Do our own needs blind us to the needs and rights of others, making relationships difficult or impossible ? Can we manifest what we desire and feel confident in our own life adventure ? These are all questions that will be a focus while Chiron is in Aries.

The image of Chiron entering Aries is that of many people waking up at the same time, though what they wake up to will differ. One possibility is anger. There is no estimating the amount and depth of suppressed rage that is brewing underground in the collective psyche. This rage is bending and twisting all of emotion, resulting in some strange and unpredictable effects in society. It is important to remember that Chiron’s astrological role is to promote the integration of the body, mind, spirit system and to achieve balance in the body’s energetic framework. We can prepare for any Chiron event by doing a self-assessment to see how well our life patterns are supporting our health and ability to heal.

The effect Chiron will have in our individual lives will vary according to our individual birthchart. Those of us around age 50-52 who have Chiron in Aries natally will experience their Chiron return at some point in their lives, a time of reckoning when we experience some sort of healing crisis. This can be a clearing of emotional debris which manifests as a deeply emotional time, or it can be marked with a health crisis that necessitates a change in the manner in which we live our lives. Or it can be a positive time of self care and healthy living to prepare us for the next phase of our lives as we move towards the Saturn return. If we have planets in the cardinal signs (Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn) we will experience a transit of Chiron to those points at some time in the next eight years.  Depending on the planet affected, we may find ourselves feeling triggered emotionally, or perhaps a loss of energy.

The time has come to return to speaking in « I-statements, » taking responsibility and ownership of our own experiences, and making a point to distinguish ourself from group identity. This may thrust many people into a kind of identity crisis, since so much of our identity is currently tribal, but struggling to be something else. Among the first-tier properties of Chiron is standing out, distinguishing oneself, and being different — pretty much no matter what the cost. When Chiron is present, it’s time to be a maverick. It’s pretty easy to hide by trying to blend in, though this comes at the expense of learning how to be yourself. Not being yourself means being someone else, which is not possible — so the crisis is something of an encounter with the reality gap.

2019 is going to sail us into completely foreign waters. Our world has well and truly changed – not changing. The shaking is set to continue, and (believe it or not) it is in our own best interests. 2019 will packed with frenetic episodes, energetic jolts of enlightenment, replete with the usual hard knocks and tough-love lessons for you romantics. It is not enough to simply hide out and 'meditate' your way into a better world. Sure mindful practices will help, but in the coming months we will be pressed to take some action. 2019 (and 2020) will be years in which our actions speak volumes. This includes our inaction which itself will produce effects like never before. Society itself is going through its own massive changes right now, the birth pangs of a more inclusive and equal-opportunity society that is still to come, and this is reflected in the strong Saturn-Pluto parallel which gets even closer over the next few months, peaking in March, and then again in August. Pluto with Saturn implies a draconian approach to social ills, and a re-forming of the society itself, and of the patterns of our individual lives. Earth oriented Haumea, operating in connection with trickster Uranus during the first half of the year pushes forward the theme of climate change. Other societal themes are likely to involve the illusions and idealisations of Neptune, quite prominent in these January skies, and beyond.

The overarching theme in 2019 has a lot to do with learning to create balance between having blind faith and grounding all of this remarkable idealism you find yourself swimming in. We move into the new year feeling as if the sky truly is the limit. There is, however, a subtle difference between living in la-la land and manifesting the destiny you know is within your grasp. In 2019 you get to master this fascinating lesson. In 2019 you can accomplish more than your wildest dreams envision as long as you keep your feet firmly planted on the ground as you reach for the stars. Remember, an arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. If life drags you down with difficulties, it means it's going to launch you into something great. So just focus and keep aiming. That is the beauty of Jupiter in Sagittarius aligned with Neptune and Saturn linked to Neptune this year : practical magic. Use it well.

The Uranus/Neptune semisquares (2017-2020) lead us all deeper into the rabbit-hole of altered perceptions and soul-shock. We will be better served by serving our own inner light. Sooner or later we might have to take matters into our hands. Nobody is there to help if we don't show that we are keen to act for ourselves. In this sense, acting sooner, with a sense of urgency is absolutely imperative.

2019 starts out with Uranus finishing up his trek through Aries for good. Until 6 March he'll travel through the last degree of this sign, reminding us how to use our sense of independent, pioneering spirit in a way that is liberating without being reckless. Once Uranus enters Taurus on 6 March, he'll remain here through April 2026. The foundation of your life is bound to crack in some way in order to alert you to the fact that it's no longer serving as a solid base, but rather a suffocating boundary. Don't be afraid to reinvent yourself in terms of your values and your place in the material world. It's time.

Start the new year with a strong emotional foothold. In January, there are two eclipses. Often, the way that we commence a year sets a precedence for how the rest of the year will go.  Engage in actions during the eclipses so that you can harmonise with the planetary energies and uplift yourself. Be clear on what you wish to contribute to the world, activities in which you will partake, what you will forgo this year, and how you will design your life. Eclipses allow a deep time for spiritual reflection and introspection. Eclipses across the Cancer/Capricorn axis throughout 2019 amplify themes of family and security versus your reputation and place in the world. Many will begin new career paths at the Solar Eclipse in Capricorn on 5 January which aligns perfectly to Saturn in Capricorn. This eclipse means business and offers you the potential to move mountains. This solar eclipse will be a positive alignment with the balanced star Vega in the Lyra constellation and has a creative influence. The January solar eclipse conjunct with Saturn brings up a serious mood but the light energy of Neptune acts as a relaxant. It’s a great time to start a new business or for embarking on a creative journeya bit of kindness and charity will go a long way during this time.

A Lunar eclipse takes place in Leo on 21 January. It’s a passionate time and it will be affected by rebellious Uranus. Some unexpected news might create sudden consternation in you. It will be an anxious period and you will be uncertain about what the future might bring. On top of that, the lunar eclipse arrives at a place where there are only dim stars making no place for light. However, the Sun comes to the rescue aligned with brighter stars giving more courage during this tough time. Adaptability, patience and an open mind will help a lot during this period and will help us when new opportunities come our way.

Jupiter, the planet of exuberance and faith, moved into his home sign of Sagittarius back on 8 November 2018, and will remain here through 2 December 2019. This presents an incredible opportunity to believe in the possibilities of life in a way that you might not have in quite some time. While Jupiter was touring Scorpio, there was an intensity to your pursuit of happiness that sometimes felt heavy. Now that Jupiter is in Sagittarius, you look and feel lighter. In fact, you might notice that you're all smiles as the year begins.

Jupiter will square Neptune on 13 January, 16 June, and 21 September. Neptune might lead you to be hopelessly unrealistic about a situation and that may, ultimately, lead to disappointment. When others can't fulfill your pedestal version of them and they remind you that they are only human after all, it can be quite disenchanting. The same might happen if you're working on a project that you have high hopes for. If you're only working on faith and forget the brass tacks, the happy ending you're hoping for might never materialise. The days around this square are not the best time, but it will test your strength in the face of disappointment. You might be too optimistic during this time – more idealistic than in the real world. You might trust your romantic partner more than they deserve – you might even take risks based on your rose-tinted view of the world and fall flat. Your resources will no longer seem as safe and sound as you thought they were – so you have to take extra caution during this period.

Fortunately, the universe will provide a simultaneous opportunity for you to ground all of this idealism into something real – as long as you remember to keep your eyes open. Neptune will make a supportive sextile to stabilising Saturn on 31 January, 18 June, and again on 8 November. This impossible dream you have doesn't have to be unattainable. All you need to do is combine your vision with a solid plan. Let Saturn help you focus your blurry lens of naïveté that Neptune brings. Saturn sextile Neptune promises to bring material gains from your spiritual journey. You will now be more capable of pursuing your dreams. There will be limitations but the planet will feed you the right amount of optimistic energy needed to push you onwards and approach your dream in a realistic manner. Plus, you will be able to fit in your spiritual needs within this bigger picture of life. You might have to make sacrifices but that will be for your greater good. You will be more capable to help people follow their dream, too, with your spiritual support backing them up.

Seek wise counsel. For most of 2019, Jupiter will be in Scorpio in the nakshatra of Jyestha. Jupiter is archetypically a teacher or an advisor whom one looks to for proper guidance. Jupiter is called Guru in Sanskrit – the term for a spiritual teacher. Depending on what astrological house Jupiter will be transiting in your chart, this counsel may take the form of a spiritual teacher, a mentor, an attorney, an astrologer, an accountant, a doctor, a therapist, etc. For success in 2019 you can benefit from such advisors and stay on the path of dharma.

A quite interesting configuration is re-emerging in this January context, and growing stronger over the first few months of 2019. That is the partile or same-degree opposition of the  Eris/Uranus midpoint to Haumea, earth goddess energy of Profound Connection to Nature, and to natural law. Haumea is located at 26 plus degrees of Libra, opposite the midpoint in Aries, having reached it late last year, and is stationing retrograde there on 24 January. This brings renewed attention to earth changes, and to global warming as one super important issue. This is in fact likely to become the biggest agenda of the next decade. Perhaps it really is true, as a philosophical sage once remarked, that the best concept of freedom is to understand the direction that history is moving, and head that way.

Refine your skills in 2019 as Saturn will transit the nakshatra of Purva Ashadha in Sagittarius. This constellation believes in making oneself a better vessel. It allows us to improve our life circumstances by fine tuning our skills – whatever they may be. By adding to your repertoire,  you can extend a wider array of offerings to the world. 2019 is the year can contemplate how you can « build a better mousetrap ». This involves thinking more acutely and performing at your best. The motivation here is to be successful in all your endeavours. Practice patience. While you are polishing your skills, you must have composure. It’s time to put the drama aside and to have forbearance.  Don’t get distracted from your pursuits. When the going gets tough, be proactive and use the resources you have at hand. This is not the year to share all your complaints on social media.  However, 2019 is the year to be rewarded for your efforts if you give them proper time and attention.

Indulge in creative endeavours. Fun loving Rahu moves into Gemini in March. Gemini indicates the use of one’s arms, creativity, and the arts. Rahu hates routines more than anything else ! It wants to participate in new and exciting endeavours regularly. For example, take an art class, play an instrument, do creative writing, dance, or whatever will get your artistic juices flowing. Perhaps do something related to a foreign culture, to further satisfy Rahu’s cravings.

Take a trip abroad. With Ketu joining Saturn (through Sept 2020) in Sagittarius – the astrological house of foreign travel – you’ll want to heed the callings of your wanderlust. In addition, Saturn represents foreigners. Therefore, it’s the ideal time to learn about a new culture. You may benefit from a spiritual pilgrimage. This planetary pairing can take your meditation practices to greater depths.  On the other hand, if you are in the mood for something lighter, take a trip for leisure. See what you appreciate about the lifestyle and values of another culture and how you can incorporate these aspects to help you live a more aligned life.

A Solar Eclipse on 2 July in Cancer will oppose Saturn, asking you to let go of what you thought made you secure in order to become the master builder of your life. These themes continue through to the 16 July Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn (and into the eclipses at the end of the year). Uranus and a star present in Gemini Constellation will bring a lot of positive vibes and cement your friendships and relationships with sprinklings of good times. It’s a time when people will come together for peaceful negotiations. If you are open-minded and work hard, you can even accomplish what you dreamed of.

The Lunar Eclipse that will happen in Capricorn 16 July is a powerful one, happening in conjunct with intense Pluto. It will likely make you a bit emotional and there might be some crisis regarding power struggles. Eris, the dwarf planet that this eclipse will square, will strengthen the feminist attacks to destroy patriarchy. While there might be scandals and destruction of reputations, there will also be sympathy and understanding during this time.

The ending of the year will be great. Jupiter will trine Uranus on 15 December and bring exciting encounters into your life. Jupiter is expansive so you might want to go out of your comfort zone and start exploring the world more. You will feel the freedom to take more risks, expand your point of view and pick up new opportunities as they come in your way. You have to push boundaries and live in an expansive manner. There might be unexpected opportunities that come your way, and all of it can get you to a positive change that you need in the year.

A Solar Eclipse on 26 December in Capricorn conjunct Jupiter in Capricorn and trine Uranus in Taurus will be magical. Expect a sudden, material windfall to occur if you've done the work of securing your place in the world.

This next year is of course the prelude to 2020, and the Eris - Pluto square, already quite close, will then become still more prominent. We might expect both a radical empowerment of the extremely potent transformational energies represented by Uranus-Pluto, in square until 2020, and the rise of individualists following their own inner compass to the exclusion of all else, in a dedicated fight for what they most deeply espouse. This maverick energy fights for what it believes, possibly supporting odd-ball causes until it finds its actual centre. The rise of feminism, and of #MeToo/Time’s Up, and of women in politics are examples of the recent prominence of this Feminine Warrior rebellious energy emerging into the zeitgeist.
