Signs of spring abound in Manresa! Not only in the grounds and surrounds, but in the life and prayer evident in the many who have been in the centre in recent weeks. March's Oasis Days - in Irish and in English - were encouraging and the presence of the contemplative retreatants was complemented by those who came for the photography-themed retreat last weekend when camera and smartphones were used as prompts to notice, appreciate and to grow in gratitude. (Sorry you missed it? Read on!).
May the growing light of these days lead you to notice your own growth in hope as our Lenten journey draws us onwards.

The March of the Penguins

France, 2005, 80 mins, Cert G

At the end of each Antarctic summer, the emperor penguins leave the ocean. They walk inland to their ancestral breeding grounds. There, the penguins participate in a courtship which if successful, results in the hatching of a chick. For the chick to survive both parents must make multiple arduous journeys between the ocean and the breeding grounds over the ensuing months.

Ash Wednesday is on 6 March this year, with Easter Sunday falling on 21 April. Every Tuesday during Lent is a chance for you to join others in a time of quiet guided prayer - but we will begin even before Lent does! These evenings create a ‘sacred space’ for you to open your heart to the Word of God, helping you to prepare to celebrate God’s great love for us.
You can come for any one evening, or all seven as you wish. No need to book - just come along.
  • 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm 2, 9 and 16 April 2019
A one-day workshop to explore the origins and steps of BioSpiritual Focusing presented by John Keane, European Regional Director of The BioSpiritual Institute.
BioSpiritual Focusing teaches us how to connect with our bodies’ consciousness through the ‘felt sense’ which is common to all humanity. During the workshop we will experience how ordinary, everyday living, experienced in the body, can be a source of spiritual development. This lived experience links us to a process that is more than just ourselves, connecting us to the One ‘in whom we live and move and have our being.’ (Acts 17:28)

Applications are currently being received for Manresa's Diploma in Spirituality (Spiritual Direction). The course, validated by Saint Patrick's College, Maynooth, is now open for applications for September 2019. The closing date for these applications is 30 April 2019.
