The work and events that JETAA Wellington does are only possible thanks to the heroic efforts of our alumni volunteers and committee members. At our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, 5 March—taking place at the always-amazing Tatsushi Japanese restaurant—we'll be deciding who will fill the various roles needed to keep everything going.
If you're unfamiliar with what JETAA does, and the benefits to being a JETAA member, our AGM is also a good time to learn about the neat experiences and opportunities that come with being part of JETAA. You're also more than welcome to just come along for the free tasty Japanese dinner! Just remember to RSVP by email or Facebook.
Locally, as a committee member, you'll help keep our alumni community strong and get to participate in some of Wellington's exclusive Japan/JET-related events, functions and dinners. Internationally, you'll also get the chance to engage with other JETAA chapters through the annual Oceania JETAA conference and by working with CLAIR.
Committee roles are open to all JET alumni in the Wellington area and include:
President
Vice-President
Secretary
Treasurer
Communications Officer
Events Coordinator
Taiyaki Machine Manager
JkaiWa Liaison
For a bit more detail about what these positions entail, check out the graphic below, or feel free to reach out!
If you want to get involved with things, but feel that none of the above positions suit you, get in touch and we can find a way for you to be involved. We're always open to suggestions for new roles, so if you have an area or project you'd like to tackle, tell us about it!
Not only is JETAA fully supported by the Embassy of Japan and CLAIR, but we also regularly cooperate with Wellington's other groups that support an ongoing connection with Japan, such as the Wellington Sakai Association and the Japan Society. With so many people working together and your fellow members, a role in JETAA's committee takes only a little bit of time and work (less than you may think!), but helps make a lot of wonderful things happen.
Hope to see you there, and to work with you in the coming year to keep making JETAA Wellington greater and greater!
