ATEME TITAN Software Encoder Enables ATSC 3.0 Testing for Pearl TV and the Phoenix Model Market Project

DENVER, CO – February 26, 2019  ATEME, the emerging leader in video delivery solutions for broadcast, cable, Direct-to-Home, IPTV and OTT is enabling real-world ATSC 3.0 field research for Pearl TV and the Phoenix Model Market; a test bed for next generation TV services.

Utilizing ATEME’s software-based TITAN solution, Pearl TV is testing multi-channel HEVC encoding for ATSC 3.0 including advanced features such as Ultra High Definition, High Dynamic Range video, immersive audio, digital rights management, next-generation emergency alerting, Scalable High Efficiency Video Coding (SHVC) and digital ad insertion.

“Next generation TV gives broadcasters incredible flexibility to deliver content both over-the-air and over-the-top, all in the common Internet Protocol language of the Internet.  In Phoenix, we are working to demonstrate how broadcasters can work together to take full advantage of the ATSC 3.0 broadcast standard and also implement new services that will appeal to viewers,” said Pearl TV Managing Director Anne Schelle.

“ATEME is committed to the ATSC broadcast industry,” said Walid El Hamri, VP Solutions & Business Development. “We support several ATSC 3.0 field trials. Our solutions enable broadcasters to reap immediate ATSC 1.0 gains and utilize technology that does not need to be repurchased for the exciting ATSC 3.0 future.”

TITAN offers superb video quality for ATSC 1.0 applications and seamless migration to the future ATSC 3.0 ecosystem. High Efficiency Video Coding and SHVC are fully-supported and used in several next-generation TV test sites.

ATEME software is server-agnostic and can run on any private/public & on/off-premises Cloud infrastructure with the same benefits and value proposition. License mobility is inherent.

Dr. Mickael Raulet, Director of Research & Innovations added that “ATEME is proud to support the Phoenix Model Market project. We are proactively collaborating with the Pearl TV team and other technology companies to demonstrate the delivery of new broadcast consumer services and the real-world capabilities of the new ATSC 3.0 standard.”

At the 2019 NAB Show, ATEME will present a portfolio of next-generation video compression solutions at South Hall Booth SU6005.
