LAST CHANCE TO VOTE 'BEST OF DC'

Staycation All I Ever Wanted

Watch Julia Roberts eat her way through Italy, Chevy Chase drive his family cross country, and Lindsay Lohan...well, be normal, during this summer's Georgetown Sunset Cinema outdoor movie series. Our 2019 theme is Out of Office, featuring films about vacations and trips. Choose our line-up by clicking here and voting for your five favorite films--from Eat Pray Love, to National Lampoon's Vacation, Parent Trap, Jaws, or Little Miss Sunshine--by March 13. Presented by the Georgetown Business Improvement District, our movie series begins Tuesday, July 9, with films starting at sunset at Georgetown Waterfront Park. The power is in your hands--vote!

Some Light Bedtime Reading

Our FY2018 Annual Report is no Gone Girl. But for something with 'fiscal year' in the title, we think it's a pretty interesting read. The report highlights key accomplishments and commercial district developments in the areas of economic development, public space enhancements, street services, transportation, and marketing and events programming. So if you're ever wondering what, exactly, we do all day (aside from newsletters), check it out!

When You Remember You Hate Running

Riding that New Year's resolution high, you signed up for a marathon. Two months later, you're realizing that 26.2 bumper sticker is never making its way to your car. Sometimes we reach for the moon and land among the 5Ks. Log a race without killing yourself at the Corporate FunRun Washington DC 5k, Monday, June 10 at 6:30 pm along the C&O Canal Towpath. The run/walk is an out-and-back, starting and ending close to the Aqueduct bridge. Afterward, enjoy a post-race party and awards from 7:30 - 9:30 pm, hosted by Gypsy Sally's (3401 K Street NW)--including a free beer for every participant. Get your team together and register today. The race benefits The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Who Run the World?

Last we checked, still girls. Women, to be exact. Celebrate International Women's Day and the female artists and entrepreneurs who are changing the world at a Women In the Arts pop-up event Friday, March 8 from 6:30 pm - 10 pm at L2 Lounge (3315 Cady's Alley NW). Presented by DC Swim Week, enjoy four hours of art, music, shopping, and cocktails. Register today to meet these inspiring guests, including a self-taught artist from Cameroon and a woman who left her career behind to follow her dreams and open a community art space.

You're Welcome / We're Sorry

This can't be unseen. Insomnia Cookies (3204 O St NW) is offering free daytime delivery from 9 am - 5 pm through this Friday, March 1 with the code DC4FREE. The Georgetown BID is not responsible for what you do--or eat--with this information. We do, however, accept donated deliveries. Chocolate chip, specifically.

Dumplings, and Mothers Who Know Best

We're back next week with a new blog, but for those who are new to byGeorge, here's a #tbt to one of our first profiles, nearly two years ago. Zannchi (1529 Wisconsin Ave NW) restaurant owner Eunjung Kim shares why her mom's restaurant in Korea inspired her to leave her job as a foreign exchange broker, how a favorable Washington Post review put Zannchi on the map, and how she's stayed true to traditional recipes while accommodating American tastes. Plus, don't miss our short video for an additional behind-the-scenes look at Zannchi!

Talk of the (George)Town

Between this and the free cookie delivery, it's an embarrassment of sugar riches today. Thanks to Elite Daily for tempting us with these amazing looking treats from Georgetown Cupcake. Get 'em while you can.

Keep talking about Georgetown, and tagging us on InstagramFacebook, & Twitter!
