Traditional Custom Buick Wins Big in Sacramento

We wanted to congratulate TRJ reader Steve Pierce whose ’40 Buick hauled in several prestigious awards at the Sacramento Autorama last weekend, including the Harold A. Bagdasarian Memorial Award for World’s Most Beautiful Custom. The chopped, Washington Blue ’40 Super was a five-year project built mostly in Steve’s two-car home garage in Napa, California. We photographed the car just a few weeks ago for a full feature in the upcoming TRJ #81, which will be out soon.

That's Steve Pierce (middle) celebrating in Sacramento with painter Kyle Martin and upholsterer Chris Johnson after winning the Bagdasarian Memorial Award.

In addition to winning the “Baggy,” Steve’s coupe was named King of Kustoms, West Coast Kustoms’ Outstanding Nostalgia Custom, and received Custom D’Elegance awards for Outstanding Interior and Outstanding Display. Congratulations to Steve and all the other builders and owners who are keeping traditional custom styling alive and well!

Cheers!
Your Friends at The Rodder’s Journal

Here at TRJ we are all fans of pre-war Buick customs. In fact, Curt Iseli has of his own in the works. It's a '41 coupe that recently went under the knife at Cody Wall's Traditional Metalcraft in Milton, Delaware.
