The thing about treading water is that it's really easy to start drowning.

If you're an intuitive who tends to think in metaphors, you already know what I'm talking about. Treading water is when you are making it work, but it's far from smooth sailing. It's the point where you think everything is good. Until that one more thing is added to your plate. Or that one bout of sickness sucked up your energy stores. Or a hiccup in a client project just wrecked your project schedule for the rest of the month. Or, well you get the idea.

I used to be really good a treading water. I juggled #allthethings and managed to keep up. And sometimes I like to think I can still do that. But the reality is that no one can keep that kind of thing up long term.

And despite social pressures, we shouldn't. Busy isn't a badge of honor.

If we keep on with the metaphor, the point is to be in some kind of boat. Cruise ship, sailboat, kayak, yacht, or whatever mode of transportation floats your boat. Sorry, sometimes I love a silly pun. Back to the point. We're not meant to spend our life treading water out in the middle of the ocean.

As a momboss with a military husband who is bouncing back and forth between home and not home, I'm editing. Seriously, nothing in the house, my schedule or my business is safe right now. And editing is a good thing.

Editing is what takes a hot mess of a manuscript and makes it a novel worth reading. Editing is what takes a whole lot of logo design ideas and narrows it down to the perfect one. Editing is a huge part of avoiding treading water.

I don't know exactly what, but I'm betting there is something you need to edit. Here's your big, fat permission slip. Do it. It's a good thing.

Can't wait to chat again,
