WE WANT YOUR VIEWS ON STRAND ALDWYCH PROPOSALS
There are just over 2 weeks left to give your views on ambitious new proposals for the Strand Aldwych area.
The council has published draft designs which build on and enhance the strengths of the area – its extraordinary cultural, educational and creative institutions, its diverse range of businesses and the established residential neighbourhoods nearby.
The key improvements include:
• making it easier and safer to get around by removing the gyratory, having two-way traffic in Aldwych and removing it from part of the Strand
• improving public spaces across the whole area with an amazing new plaza proposed around St Mary le Strand Church
• improving connections to South Bank, Covent Garden and the West End
• creating a cultural and learning quarter by joining up the world-renowned organisations and institutions in the area and supporting them to showcase their amazing offer
• tackling air quality issues as well as improving facilities for walking and cycling
The council is asking residents, students, businesses, venues, organisations and community groups for their feedback on the plans, to help shape the next stage of design work. Visit the dedicated website - www.strandaldwych.org - for full details and to share your views.
