Winter is coming! Get busy with us!

Now and again we are given a special treat and last weekend it was the world's first annual and very bee-utiful World Bee Day celebrations. In Canberra events hosted by the Slovenian, Swedish and Swiss Embassies and the Australian Parliament were combined with the formal launch of ACT For Bees' and Cool Australia's exciting new year 5 and year 6 Food Security curriculum. Big congratulations to local AAEE member Julie Armstrong, founder of ACT For Bees, for this accomplishment. And big thank you to Sue Jones at Take Flight Education for the very well-informed bee-friendly company on the day.

Conservation Council's World Environment Day scrumptious dinner is this Saturday night 2 June and a few tickets are still available - click to buy here - but don't leave it too long! Join us on the AAEE table Terratics if you are game!

Finally, why not come along after work to our Thursday 7th June GreenEd drinks at Fellows Bar ANU? We will be thanking and celebrating longstanding and very active local member, well-known EfS mentor and colleague to many, Jenny Dibley, our special guest, who will be sharing with us the untold inside story of Act Smart.

Education for Sustainability - What if it takes a City?

ACT AAEE members have been continuing to meet with educators and the community to advocate for the ideas in our 2017 Learning and Education for Sustainability document. Now we are preparing to highlight these same ideas to the ACT Government inquiry "Nature in our City” .

If you are an early childhood educator or know someone who is, our document is a must-read - in it we explain exactly what ACT needs to put in place in education over the next decade to enable us to meet and beat our territory's sustainability goals and to reap rich and varied educational rewards doing it.  Download the report here

Read about the NSW Early Childhood Environmental Education Network here (Thank you ECEEN)

ACT AAEE is expecting the 10-year strategy for education - The ACT Future of Education Strategy - to be finalised by the end of July. Individual submissions can still be made at the ACT Government's Future of Education site.

We are here to help you get the most out your
