Pastor Denise is leading a study based on Lee Strobel's book, "The Case for Christ".  The Wednesday Bible Study meets every Wednesday from 11:30am - 1:00pm.  The Sanctuary is open prior to the study at 11:15am for optional prayer time. Everyone is welcome to attend and you can join the study at anytime.  More information can be found on the church website.

Anyone interested in participated in the DeBows music ministry, vocal or instrumental, can email Grayce at music@debowsumc.org.  The choir rehearses at 10:45 each Sunday morning.  The band practices on Friday nights at 6:00 PM.  Plans for the Easter Cantata will be made in the near future. There is always room for those who wish to share their gift of music.

Old Monmouth Candy
DeBows is currently conducting an Old Monmouth Easter Candy fundraiser.  It will run through Sunday, March 24.   Order brochures are available on the sign-up table.  Contact Sue Hayward for more information.
Trustee News
The Trustees & Church Council have approved work to start on two major projects.  First, the two front doors leading from the outside porch into the sanctuary will be replaced.  Second, the parking lot will be expanded and totally repaved.  Work on both of these projects should begin in the next few weeks.  Watch for more details concerning exact timing any impact it may have on accessing the church building.

Church Growth
Conversation Sessions

Jackson UMC is hosting a 7-session Church Growth Conversation, based on the book, “Lasting Impact” by Carey Nieuwhof. Pastor Joseph Tiedemann will lead the sessions and extends the following invitation for you to join the conversation.

7 powerful conversations that will help our church grow

Over the next 7 months, I am inviting you to participate in 7 dialogs that are designed to position our churches for growth in ways that will have a positive impact on our members, families, and communities.

Each month we will gather on Saturday evenings at Jackson UMC from 6-8pm to have fellowship and discussion around the corresponding conversations in the book. We are happy to provide child-care.

You can participate in the conversations without reading the chapter, although you will be able to have much deeper conversations if you have read the chapter ahead of time. Each section is about 30 pages.

Scheduled Conversations:

February 9 – Why Is Our Church Not Growing Faster?
March 9 – How Do We Respond As People Attend Church Less Often?
April 13 – Are Our Leaders Healthy…Really?
May 11 – What Keeps High Capacity Leaders From Engaging Our Mission?
June 8 – Why Are Young Adults Walking Away From Our Church?
July 20 – What Cultural Trends Are We Missing?
August 10 – What Are We Actually Willing To Change?

Grocery Shopping Cards

Every week during Fellowship Time, you have the opportunity to purchase grocery store shopping cards for either Shoprite or Stop & Shop.  This is a convenient way to pay for the food you buy at the grocery store and at the same time support the ministries of DeBows UMC.  The church makes 5% of all shopping cards sold. You may see Sue Hayward or Karen Stillwell to purchase the shopping cards on any Sunday.

Lay Servant Classes
Spring 2019 Basic and Advanced Lay Servant classes for certification and re-certification are now available. For more information on dates, times and registration click here for Basic and here for Advanced.  Dates are available in all districts.
