There's just something special about New Bern, North Carolina.
So I'm extra excited about our trip next month to visit Tryon Palace and historic New Bern. Upon arrival, we’ll begin our immersion experience at the new high-tech North Carolina History Center with an introductory film and exploration of the exhibit hall, followed by lunch at Lawson’s Landing, a casual café on-site.
North Carolina’s royal colonial history comes alive through costumed interpreters as we tour Tryon Palace. Tryon Palace historic clothing interpreter Leslie Lambrecht will lead a behind-the-scenes, private tour of the Costume Shop, discussing the research techniques used to ensure the costumes are produced using historically accurate techniques and fabrics. Also observe the costume team at work tailoring, mending and creating costumes to be featured in events at Tryon Palace throughout the year.There will be free time at the end of the tour to explore the gardens and additional historical buildings associated with the site.
