IN THIS ISSUE

Our Weekly News Update

British singer and outspoken animal rights activist Morrissey has announced that he will go on tour in Canada in April. A portion of the proceeeds will go to "animal protection groups" such as our own Save Movement groups. On his website, Morrissey stated: "Thankfully there are many such organizations in Canada:
Toronto Pig Save, Ottawa Animal Save, St John’s Chicken Save, Vancouver Chicken Save, and also PETA USA and Direct Action Everywhere. Certainly, any and all of these groups are welcome to set up stalls at our concerts.  We are here to save as many lives as possible."

The Climate Save Movement

The Climate Save Movement's core message is: Help save the planet by going vegan and becoming active. The climate change crisis is upon us, and we must urgently rise to mitigate and reverse it. The Climate Save Movement is building a grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis by ending animal agriculture, reforesting the Earth and phasing out fossil fuels.
Climate Save Movement now has 70 chapters. Please welcome our new chapters:

The Guardian: Greta Thunberg tells EU: your climate targets need doubling
The EU wants to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by 2030, compared with 1990 levels. “Some people say that is good, that is ambitious; but this new target is still not enough to keep global warming below 1.5C,” Thunberg said, referring to what scientists regard as the preferable upper limit if the planet is to avoid extreme droughts, floods and the bleaching of corals."
Climate Save Movement is joining the global climate strike on March 15. Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old vegan founder of the climate strike movement, posted on Instagram: "This picture is from Brighton. This week well over 100,000 schoolchildren were on strike for the climate!! British PM says that the children on school strike are 'wasting lesson time.' That may well be the case. But then again, political leaders have wasted 30 years of inaction. And that is slightly worse..."

Why get up so early to fight the cold or heat to go to such a sad, terrible place like a slaughterhouse on a Saturday? We do it for the urge and need to continue exposing something we believe is so wrong that it deserves to continuously have light shed upon it. We do it because this wrongness affects those we know are capable of happiness and joy as well as fear and sadness."

Donate Today!

Toronto Pig Save started in December 2010, with a promise to the pigs of doing a minimum of three vigils and vegan outreach events each week, all year round. We bear witness as a community of pigs, cows, chickens and other farmed animal victims in slaughterhouse trucks. The animals want us to be present and, with the most pleading eyes, ask for our help when we see them through the portholes of transport trucks. Just as if we were in those horrid trucks, we would want the whole community to be there fighting for our freedom, liberation, rights, and equality. In a way, we are there. All life is one and, “when (wo)men wish to harm others, they really do evil to themselves,” Leo Tolstoy said in his animal rights story “Esarhaddon, King of Assyria”. It’s our positive duty and obligation to act in the present to try to stop the most egregious injustices before us.

"When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to her who suffers, and try to help her.” – Leo Tolstoy

In seven years, The Save Movement has grown to over 610 Save groups in 66 countries around the world. Our dream is to have regular vigils at every slaughter plant worldwide. We regularly give seed money to new Save groups and require funds for literature, posters, subway ad campaigns (iVegan.ca) and vegan outreach events.

Make animal liberation your priority in life! Think of 10 kind things you can do each day and encourage your friends to do the same! Join us and participate in our weekly vigils, start a Save group in your community, and be a regular donor.
